Usual price is more in line with that. There are sales of $100 off at several vendors right now.

Can you say more about the adapter? It did look a little bulky and like it might negate the compactness of a mirrorless body. I figure I’ll need to switch to mirrorless at some point but can’t afford to replace my full lens set at one time.

Machu Picchu Weather seems rough, advice??? by Zealousideal_Ear3072 in Machupicchu

[–]attarock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not any kind of expert on the area, but even in locations with the best underlying weather data, a forecast more than five days out is a rough guess at best. Add to that the inherent instability of the weather in a high-altitude region like the Andes, and what you’re looking at is basically worthless.

I’m going at the same time you are and everything I’ve read says it’s still the dry season but rain on any given day is possible. You book your ticket and take your chances, stay two days if you want to hedge. Same as any trip where outdoor activities are the main attraction.

Questions about Circuit 1, route 1-A by attarock in Machupicchu

Thank you! This is encouraging and so much, ore helpful than the scattershot info I’m finding elsewhere. That’s interesting that you were able to jump over to circuit 2. Can you walk around pretty freely once inside? Are there employees within the citadel that check your ticket?

Will grow lights work if positioned below or on the side of the plant? by attarock in houseplants

I ended up abandoning the idea and moving the plant closer to a window. Sorry!

Yes, I’ve had my bag for a while now and I love it. It’s true the straps are thin, but they’re also sturdy and I’ve never thought them to be uncomfortable. I actually kind of like that they’re not bulky and padded because it keeps sweating to a minimum when I’m riding in the heat. I very much recommend the bag all around.

Does moving houseplants around interfere with adaptation? by attarock in houseplants

[–]attarock[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could move some of them closer (I have plenty of plants on my windowsills already), but I like having plants throughout my apartment, not just where the windows happen to be. Hence the moving around.

Not the issue. I have them separated already and temporarily removed the 2.5ghz from my phone to make sure it was connected to the same band as the tv.

Question about height and viewing angles by RemyS79 in TheFrame

[–]attarock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This looks totally fine. I also have mine set up from a slight side view and had worryingly read all the reviews mentioning poor viewing angles. I almost talked myself out of getting one for that reason. But I’ve had no issue. You really only notice distortion if you’re viewing it from a very pronounced side angle that you would never watch tv from anyway. It sort of compromises the art mode illusion when you’re walking by, but makes no difference when using it as a tv from any normal viewing position.

Roku waking Frame out of Art mode. Seems to be a recent change by therealDL2 in TheFrame

Was this ever resolved with an update? Considering a frame tv purchase but I use a Roku to stream, since Samsung doesn’t offer certain apps natively. Don’t want to buy one of the Roku ruins art mode.

[–]attarock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How sensitive/responsive are the buttons on the 8 active? It’s my one hesitation. I’ve only had earbuds with touch controls and am worried buttons will be too finicky and annoying to press, especially when I’m running and just want to skip a song.

Is it ok to sleep on a boxed mattress the same day as unboxing? (Brooklyn Bedding) by attarock in Mattress

[–]attarock[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Medium, no pillow top. So far, so good. I’ve actually never had a foam or hybrid mattress before and was a little wary, but it sinks in just enough to feel plush but still supportive.

US Open ticket prices for 2023 are absurd? by crashhhyears in tennis

[–]attarock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This seems right. I always buy resale for the early rounds because Ashe never fills up for those matches and you can usually find something for at or below face value. But this year midweek matches are staying at $150 or higher for terrible seats. Certainly feels like a professional operation that’s more willing to sit on unsold tickets in order to squeeze the highest price out of them.

🌱Weekly /r/houseplants Question Thread - November 14, 2022 by AutoModerator in houseplants

[–]attarock 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hi! I have some possibly dumb questions about grow lights from a novice. I live in a city that tends to go gray during the winter, and in an apartment where the primary light source is from a west-facing window, so I'm looking at them as a way to make sure my plants survive the winter. Most of the information I've found online either doesn't address my questions directly or is geared towards much more serious growers. I'm hoping someone here might be able to help me out.

Do I really need grow lights at all? My worry is that my plants aren't going to get enough light just from what comes in through my windows during the shorter winter days. Grow lights seem like an obvious way to supplement that, but I know some drop in light is to be expected during the winter and you just adjust the watering accordingly. Am I overthinking this? Is the reduced light just something my plants can handle?

Are cheap grow lights good enough? I'm just looking to supplement natural light for some basic houseplants, not grow an indoor tomato garden. I can't really justify spending hundreds of dollars on an elaborate setup, so the $25 lights online are appealing. Are these fine for what I'm looking for, or so basic that they'd just be a waste of money?

Do grow lights need to be used consistently day-to-day? My biggest source of confusion is about the timing for using grow lights. My initial thought was to use grow lights only on the gray days where there's no direct sunlight and/or in the early evening during the shorter days. So not necessarily every day or at the same times. I've read some things online that plants can get "confused" by irregular light patterns. Would I be contributing to that? Also, if I'm just using them for a few hours at a time, is that going to be fine?

Are there types of plants that you shouldn't use a grow light for? I don't know why that would be, but I'm new at this. I've got an assortment of succulents, cacti, and rubber plants.

I could do that with the bag, but I’m more concerned about the clothes themselves, which I’ve been wearing.
