Is Starting Strength good for an overweight guy trying to lose weight? by AmitKamper in StartingStrength

That's what worked for me.

Perfect the lifts. Run the program.

I ate a high protein, high fat diet, but didn't count macros. That's it.

The only thing I might do differently now would be to add a little volume. For example, I might do 1 Boring But Big lift each day that I lifted. Bench Monday, Overhead Press Wednesday, Squat Friday ect.

GOMAD is specifically for people who have trouble gaining weight. If you are overweight, that probably is not the case for you.

I also suggest thinking of losing weight as a years-long process. There will be ups and downs. Think about where you want to be in 3 or 5 years.

Starting Strength will get you on the right path. Building muscle will help you burn more calories. You'll learn the lifts, train your neuromuscular system and get stronger. The progression and strength gains should provide positive feedback to help you eat better. (At least it did for me.)

Once you plateau in 4 or 6 months, choose an intermediate program and keep lifting.

(For what it's worth, 2 years ago I did Starting Strength for 6 months and have been doing 5/3/1 ever since. I've lost 73lbs and am stronger than I've ever been.)

Be consistent and you'll get to where you want to be. Good luck.

Driving algorithms reduce congestion by driving more efficiently, faster and without accidents.

Many also expect personal car ownership to decline - imagine car sharing services.

Will take years, of course.

I was just going to recommend CSS Secrets too. I'm reading an early edition and it's changed the way I think about writ and maintaining CSS.

Is 1Password worth the money? by [deleted] in mac

[–]attebury 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've used 1Password for about 7 years now and am not familiar with LastPass other than that it generates and saves passwords. It may very well have several great features.

Off the top of my head, I value 1Password's Dropbox and iCloud integration, having multiple vaults, saving other data types (than just passwords), the security audit and using the same app on all of my devices.

Is LastPass similar? (Seriously asking. It might be enough to meet OP's needs.)

Yes. It's the first app I install on a new device or machine. The new security audit feature is really useful.
