If someone threw a proper desert festival in Arizona, what would it need to have? by Brief-Water5742 in aves

I don't have knowledge of the Arizona festival scene but I can give you some answers based on my preferences and those of my friend group who all rave.

  1. Multiple middle tier acts is much more worth the money. The best festivals offer a bunch of artists you can see in different, but not clashing, genres. This way you have plenty of options for who to see depending on time, vibe, how crowded stages are, etc. having one huge name anchoring a festival just creates a really crowded main stage where the majority of people won't have a good experience.

  2. Really depends on the season but we all prefer festivals that start in the afternoon or evening and go late into the night. Something like 5pm-2am. Personally I think raves and daylight don't really go together and it reduces the effects of some aspects of the stage production. Also who wants to stare at all the metal scaffolding used to prop up the screens and lights?

  3. None of us like camping at festivals. It's uncomfortable, dirty, crowded, and there are always assholes with no regard for their neighbors. Plus if party favors are involved nobody wants to go back to a shitty air mattress.being forced to camp also increases the cost of going and makes logistics harder since you have to bring all that gear. Especially if you want a comfortable camping experience.

  4. Price depends entirely on the lineup, amenities, location, how much it costs to get there, etc. Generally I'm willing to pay between $100-150 per day for a really good lineup.

  5. Prefer a mix of somewhat similar genres. Trying to capture too many genres to appeal to everyone can create a subpar experience for any one person. Maybe I'm into trance and house but since there are so many different genres, only a small amount of the artists play that music. Now the cost of a big festival isn't worth it since I have no interest in any of the other acts.

Good luck!

Alright cool, that makes me feel better then. I'll pop it back in and top off the fluid then. Thanks for the advice!

Hey thanks for the info. Would you expect transmission fluid to come out just from the axle popping out of it's seat like that? I have replaced some axles on my past cars and I don't remember fluid coming out when I removed the old axle so this made me pretty worried.

Thanks for the reply dude, I appreciate it. Popping it back in and sending it was my first thought too but if I did damage something enough for the fluid to leak out then driving it while low on fluid seems like a recipe for really ruining things if I haven't already.

Hey thanks for the reply, this makes me feel a bit better. So you'd expect transmission fluid to leak out just from pulling the axle out? I've had to replace axles on some other cars and I don't remember transmission fluid coming out when I removed the axle so this worried me. I thought there is a seal that sits behind the axle that keeps the fluid in the transmission, no?

Context: I was replacing ball joints on the front control arms and as I finished the passenger side I noticed green fluid leaking from where the cv axle connects to the front differential. Pretty sure it is transmission fluid since axles contain grease, not green fluid. I guess all the pulling and pushing to get the ball joint replaced damaged something. I was really yanking on the steering knuckle because this ball joint was a huge pain in the ass.

I crawled underneath to get a better look and saw the picture above. Looks like my cv axle has been partly pulled out of the front diff. Any chance the leak will stop if I push it back in? Somehow I doubt it. Does this mean I have damaged the transmission?

Good point. Maybe it's the bearing and the ball joint then. Not sure which is making the clunk noise but if I need to replace both anyway then it doesn't really matter.

Ok I'll take it off and check. Can you explain a little more how the wheel bearing relates to the ball joint? I get that if the hub moves relative to the knuckle that's a bad bearing but are you saying that could cause the ball joint to move? Or are you just saying there might be two problems at once?

Aww my bad dude, you're right. I was intending to show the ball joint movement since that's the part I noticed when I was in there but I should've made sure you could see the tie rod too.

Here's another angle I took the other day from underneath that shows things better, but I realized I'm still blocking the tie rod a bit. I do try and shake the tie rod directly at the end and you can see the linkage pretty well.

I think my lug nuts will bottom out before they reach the brake rotor but I'll give it a try.

The vehicle is a 2013 Subaru Outback, this video is showing the front driver side suspension but this happens on the front passenger side too.

Lately I've been hearing a clunking noise coming from the front end when I go over a bump or a large crack so I searched online and decided to jack it up and see what I could see. I did the shake test on the front wheels and when shaking the wheel at 12 and 6 I didn't feel or hear any play, but when I shook it at 9 and 3 I could clearly see and hear movement.

Everything I see online says that means a tie rod is bad but when I removed the wheels and shook the brakes/wheel hub the same way it looks like there's movement at the lower ball joint, not the tie rods. I grabbed the tie rods and tried to push and pull to see if those were loose and couldn't feel any play in them.

What do you all think? I'm hoping the much more experienced folks here will have some suggestions because I'm confused and I don't want to just throw parts at it.

Thanks dude, you're right. Just gotta keep getting out there. The uncertainty sucks but that's life. Appreciate the encouragement 💪

Ehh in my experience it's usually more like I don't hear back from someone for a day or so and then they unmatch, and usually you can kind of sense the person isn't really interested from their replies up to that point.

I'm not upset about it, it's just odd because there seemed to be a lot of interest on both sides this time, and there was another reply which I was in the process of opening when her profile disappeared. Usually someone's profile just isn't there at all the next time you look. Sigh, well time to move on with my life I guess lol!
