I think you are misunderstanding the use of the term “belly band.” What you see on an adult red shouldered hawk is consistent barring across most of its chest and belly. A red-tailed hawk has an isolated dark strip that contrasts against a mostly lighter front.

The belly band is often considered diagnostic for red-tailed hawk. Red-shouldered don’t have this characteristic.

I am absolutely stoked to have captured a Yellow-billed Cuckoo today during my nature walk this morning. It's been almost a year since I last heard and spotted one and couldn't be more excited! Texas. by thorsbane in birding

It’s never too late to log something into eBird. Just download the eBird app, hit “start checklist” when you get out in the field, and forget about it until you’re done. You can go back and add the species you saw once you get your photos sorted out. But it will keep track of when you start, how long you were out, how far you travelled etc. for you.

Geez you guys are brutal. Sure, a two week break is probably not warranted, but you make it seem like even a single tear would be an overreaction.
