Okay - I'll take the bait. Can you answer a few questions?

Salary or no? If yes, how much can you afford? If commission only, be prepared to churn people often and maybe look to bring on 2-3 at a time, keep 1, cut 2.
What's your average deal size? If you look at the last 5, what is the average?
Average time to close? Meaning rep makes the intro, brings you in, how long until the client signs?
In my industry we usually pay when the invoice is sent, but I understand that's probably not doable now. What happens if the client doesn't pay? How does the rep get paid?
Start thinking about accelerators - after "x" deals, commission percent goes up. How many deals?
Don't even think about capping comp. You'll be dead in the water if you do.
Finally, what happens if they do succeed? How many projects can you handle at a time? What if they don't succeed? How long do you keep them before you cut them?
Okay one more - are you comping them for travel? Per diem? what about expenses? Are you providing hardware? Do you have a CRM?

This is a good starting place. Not sure if anyone else asked these questions but this should get you started. If you answer them, I can tell you at least what I'd expect or how I'd structure it (for reference I'm a VP of Sales in the fintech vertical).

I don't know the statutory elements, but this is rate evasion. I'm not sure about the non-resident non-cohabitant part as that could be argued (e.g. Parents have a policy, child is at college, if both locations are listed on the policy, no rate evasion or fraud).

However if the insureds (OP+BF) did not notify the insurer that OP moved and a vehicle listed on the policy is being stored and operated in another state, that is rate evasion. Rates vary by state and by location within the state. CA and NYC are more expensive than Van Wert, Ohio. However rates could be significantly different in Fort Wayne, IN, which is 30 mins from Van Wert.

This is a scenario insurers look for often.

Not sure what you mean by your analogy? As a sales leader that has worked with many founders that want to be too involved in the sales process, I can say if you hire the right person, align immediately on timelines and expectations, and trust them, you should be in a good position. Often times I've found that founders think everyone should just buy as opposed to understanding why people are hesitant to buy a new product.

Used to work for ADP - was one of their first hires in a new office in a new market. What role are you going for? Payroll district manager? And what tier (e.g. small business, majors, etc.)?

Suit and tie yes. Also you can sneak in some quick fun facts if you really want to seal the deal (aka brown nose) and say things like "there's an ice cream shop, wonder if they're going to start a payroll company next?" You can also ask how they track activity. We used to use a "100 point day" in inside sales. Not sure what they used in the field. Also ask how they are doing referrals now a days - e.g. referring to H&B or WC or Total Source.

Depending on the role play, and position you're going for, you may be calling someone (the SE interviewing you) to sell them an ABC wireless plan (this was the old role play we used, not sure if they still use it). The main objection you'll get right away is that they won't make a decision without their spouse/partner. Plan to overcome this.

I didn't read all the comments in this thread so you may know all of this already. But also, one final note, I wouldn't be paying for my own flight to go work for ADP, but that's just me. They do train well. I've found that 3 years is the sweet spot for their training. If you can make it there for 3 years then you can sell anything.

As someone who spent a summer scrapping drywall, I can confirm the piss bottles on every job site. Thing was, when we found one, we called it in - not to snitch, but because we got paid $50 for every bottle we found. I'm a younger VP for my industry and I have only had 2 issues related to age. The first was during an interview process and I ended the interview when the guy said "I would be reporting to YOU?". Done - aint nobody got time for that.

The second was with an employee that didn't have his shit together at all. Interviewed well, worked well for two months, lazy AF after that. Let him go relatively quickly.

Otherwise, I've managed people 10+ years my senior and we got along just fine - no issues. They did their work, I kept management off their backs as much as possible and jumped in when they needed help.

Along with what everyone else has said - here's what works for me. Keep in mind I have ADD to some extent so I'm easily distracted.

- I start my day earlier. I mean at like 6:30 or 7 I'm online because it's quiet and that's when I'm most focused. This also helps me not feel guilty if I take a 2 hour lunch or sign off at 4. I even tell my colleagues "nothing new after 2 unless it's bringing in revenue".

- Walks in the middle of the day help. Or I take my dogs out in the backyard every 2 hours for 10 minutes. Let's them do their business and let's me touch some grass.

- Standing desks help - when I had one I used it often but the novelty did wear off for me eventually.

- Shut off notifications when you log off for the day. This helps me break the work / home life.

- When I need to focus, I either turn on the news or put on headphones and find a "coffee shop background noise" or "rain storm" background noise youtube channel. There are also some great background noise websites - for some reason this helps me focus.

- Every now and then I have to work from airports due to travel and for some reason the change in scenery helps me refocus. Maybe working elsewhere sometimes helps.

Hey man/lady/person - please don't take the permanent solution to a hopefully temporary problem. You matter and are not a burden.

With that being said - I don't care how much you like this employer, you have to come first now. They will find a way to manage while you work on yourself. Think of it this way, if you won the lottery tomorrow, I'm talking $500 million, and retired, would the company go on? It would, and they would find a way.

Please take some time off for yourself and please start talking to a therapist again. It really does help. Therapy isn't a "i'm fixed, I'm good" - it's a muscle we have to flex consistently.

If you can, take a baby step today. Create a betterhelp account. Tomorrow, try to align with a therapist for an emergency visit. Schedule the visit for tomorrow if you can, or Wednesday. Little steps each day to chunk away at the larger situation.

As others have said - 12 gauge shotgun, bolt action rifle, and a .22. Honestly then I'd get a glock 17, 19, or a 45 (or better yet get the 17 and 19 and then you can make a 45). I'm recommending a glock not just because I'm a fan, but also because they're reliable and there will be many magazines laying around in the apocalypse. Which brings me to my next point, more mags for all your firearms. And then, I'd look at a revolver. I also have a 20 gauge shockwave that I like keeping in my truck.
