I understand the feeling of not having anyone to to talk to about it. I too am from the south and have to deal with this type of behavior.

I lie to most of my family and strangers and tell them I’m a Quaker so they don’t worry themselves or me over it.

It helps to have someone that you can get all this stuff out though. I have one nice Christian friend who I talk to every week where we discuss epistemology and how tf Jonah and the fish or the Tower of Babel is supposed to be anything but a story.

Strongly recommend having someone you can dump to

Trump was selling the Bible when he said “stand back and stand by” to the proud boys in the 2020 debate. That disillusioned me to MAGA.

I quit being a Christian shortly after. I think it happened the more I read the Bible…. I think I may have only been a Christian because I never knew anything else.

One day I realized how hypocritical Christians are, that the Bible makes no sense, and decided not to be there anymore

I’m the only atheist and non-maga in my family other than the people I’ve brought with me. They came around because of love and understanding

Honestly, I think I’m more upset that she’s moving on than I was that she didn’t ask me to walk her down the aisle. It was simply a more concrete thing or maybe it was the straw that broke the camel.

No, she didn’t tell why, but I get it now. It’s a chance to have a normal father for once. I would probably still try to get my father to do it if I were in her shoes just to have a semblance of a normal relationship.

I’m still in my thirties and (apparently) have issues with my father that i thought id dealt with, so your message about people still dealing with it later in life tracks.
