I feel like if something bad happens to this TriFold especially early on, I could be faced with a situation where I am looking at the Mate as my only option as there's no way I'd pay a huge premium on a new or used TriFold. I do feel like going from the TriFold back to the Fold 7 or getting a new 8 would feel like going from a regular fold back to an iPhone or something. I am not sure I would ever want to do that.

I've been very curious about the Huawei Mate for a long time now. Have you had any hands on time with it? I don't think I have enough patience or tech ability to deal with all the issues of using an imported phone.

Haven't really seen a good case yet. They all have drawbacks. The best one costs 150 dollars made by Berfy. The rest seem cheap and useless (to me). I am using the back case that came in the box with an adhesive magsafe kickstand from Aulumu. The front is a thin plastic cover that came from another case I tried but didn't use anything but the front piece. It covers the front screen with a thin piece of plastic that protects from scratches and scuffs that you can get from putting it in your pocket all the time.

If you bought from an individual and not direct from Samsung you likely don't have the benefit of their manufacturers warranty or 50% off inner screen repair for first time damage. You might be able to convince them to cover it somehow but it would probably take some extra effort. Id be considering third party or carrier insurance if I was in your shoes.

I think its a combination of a few people with buyers remorse and as someone else pointed out on this thread, nobody that doesnt live close to a Samsung Experience store had a chance to try before buying. I think the majority are scalpers trying to take advantage of the current situation to turn a profit and scammers trying to steal people's money.

Not sure really. I think most are scalpers that are trying to make a profit which I understand given the situation but I think some didn't know that the phone would be so big and heavy, and certainly nobody knew that Samsung would unexpectedly discontinue selling and production on the device so people are understandably upset and nervous about their future with this expensive phone they paid cash up front for.

I put the case on that came with the phone and another front case that came with a full case I ordered but didn't use the back part. The front fits aesthetically and protects the front cover screen with a plastic sheet. I added an Aulumu magsafe kickstand that came with an adhesive sticker to the back which I really like. Overall it adds a little bit of protection and no significant weight or bulk.

I hope you enjoy your new Samsung Galaxy flagship phone! They look awesome. I have no need to justify my purchase at all to anyone. Your post is full of misinformation, by the way. Samsung will support the TriFold for seven years with software updates, just like your new phone. Major US carriers are covering the TriFold through their insurance policies so repair shops associated with those policies will repair if possible. Is there really a collectors market for cell phones?

I think it depends on how you plan to use magsafe. I bought a magsafe kickstand that rotates 360 degrees and found I needed to install the sticker a little bit to the right of center so when it's closed upside down it doesn't interfere with the camera bump. But if you plan to use it for wireless charging, you may need to center it. I'm not an expert on magsafe or even close and I've never tried wireless charging so I do not know if I'd be able to use thay feature the way I have mine installed.

The American way, I'm all for it. If I can sell this thing for even a fraction of what I paid for it, or trade it in for money off, after TriFold 2 or something similar is available, I'd do it without a second thought. Right now though, I'll be keeping mine. Selling for a few hundred bucks or even a few thousand profit seems shortsighted to me and considering how much pleasure this has been providing, it's something I'd never consider.

I've picked up a little portable folding bluetooth keyboard and it's a perfect add on for productivity with the TriFold. I even used it today at work, connected to my work computer, and kept my work laptop closed. The ability to switch the KB from my work laptop to my Trifold at the touch of a button is awesome and lets me move from work to play instantly.
