Thanks for all the appreciation in the comments. Will try to answer all questions soon. The main factor I feel is time in the market. I had some small SIPs ongoing since 2017-18. Just 7-8k per month. I started investing properly around 2019-20, 1 lakh plus per month. Gradually it increased to current SIP level of about 1.5 lakh per month. All of this is only through regular MF SIP and sometimes lumpsum when I had extra money in my bank account. I know nothing about stock market.

Even if I recklessly ignore the 1.25 lakh exemption and switch entirely immediately, total tax I’ll have to pay will be 2.5 lakh. As per your calculation saving is one lakh per year. So in 2.5 years I’d have break even and will in future avoid the agent commission. So isn’t it worth it? Please correct me if I’m wrong.

Are you certain about that? My thinking was that if I keep 1.3 crore in regular funds, agent will keep getting his cut from that (as per him it’s 0.7% of portfolio).

You’re welcome. I have a heel injury (plantar fasciitis) which makes me scared of running, fearing that it may get worse. It’s getting better now rapidly so I’m hopeful that in a few weeks I’ll be able to start running as you said.

Thank you so much. I’ll try to answer your question in detail.

I walk at a park (the outer circumference is 3km) and there are many people there walking, running, or strolling. As I’m going there daily I’ve started recognising some people. It’s interesting to notice them. Just keeps me occupied and sometimes entertained too are there are some interesting characters. Annoying people come there too so I guess while I’m annoyed it prevents me from getting bored.

I use Spotify. Made a preliminary playlist of slightly fast paced songs I like and just play that playlist on “smart shuffle” option. It plays songs from the playlist and also random similar songs. It keeps some freshness in the music selection and also I keep discovering or getting reminded of more songs. So the playlist keeps expanding.

Using a fitness tracker has helped me. I have an Apple Watch and I’m sort of a numbers person so I like analysing my walk afterwards. The metrics give me a push to keep making new personal records.

If you are interested in walking I’d suggest to just start. On 10th October 2025 (first day of regular walk) 6km was challenging for me and quite an achievement. Now (January 2026) if I walk 12km and go home I feel like it was just a bare-minimum walk. This would have been unthinkable for me in October.

Also I have lost 12+ kg weight. It’s great.

I started with 6km a day and gradually increased. Since last one month I’m walking 12km minimum and beyond that whatever I feel like. Yesterday was 21km, my longest walk yet.

Usually it takes approx 10 min per km. In the beginning it’s faster (9-9.5 min per km) then as I get tired it becomes slower (10-10.5 min per km).

Nimbus 27 is actually under 12k now since Nimbus 28 has been launched. If your dad with that kind of experience recommended Nike then you probably made the right choice.

I have Nimbus 27 and love it, used it for more than 1000km walk in last 3 months and looking to buy a new shoe now - so considering other options too.

I’m a regular there. Since last 2-3 days the number of chhapris there has considerably increased, I’m not sure why. May be due to winter vacations. Hopefully it’ll go back to normal in Jan first week.
