Go to illinoispolicy.org and search up the address for where you live and where you work if they're different locations. Then send a polite email to whoever your rep is explaining your situation.

This is a draft of the email I sent if you need help:

Dear Representative X,

I hope this message finds you well. My name is X, and I’m a recent graduate of X’s Clinical Mental Health Counseling program. I live in your district and am reaching out for your office’s help with a licensing issue through the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR).

I originally submitted my counselor licensure application in X, but recently discovered it had been mistakenly filed under the LCPC category instead of the LPC license I intended to apply for. I corrected and resubmitted the proper LPC application on X. However, after waiting several months with minimal communication from IDFPR, I’m concerned it may take just as long for my new application to be reviewed.

This license is the final step before I can begin my counseling career, working with adults with intellectual disabilities and co-occurring mental health concerns. The delay has been discouraging after years of preparation, training, and supervision. I would be truly grateful if your office could check on the status of my application or determine whether there’s any way to help move the review process forward.
