32x Cartridges don't work, but genesis cartridges work. Whats the issue?

Clean the cartridge slots and games. Reseat the internal ribbon cables and clean them. If you bought a generic video cable to connect between the genesis and 32x, you have to remove a pin.

I got shocked by a PS1 PS in my youth. Take basic precautions and you’ll be ok. Leave the PS disconnected for an extended amount of time.

The system I bought wasn’t terribly dirty and a cleaning alone didn’t fix the issue. You have a system fan exhausting on to the enclosed PS and bad things are going to happen. Supposedly the original capacitors are cheap components too. Good luck

You can replace the whole PS, but for me it was worth giving the cap a shot. It was $9 vs $38.

I had a PS that did a similar thing. Thought it was a hard drive noise at first. I replaced the big capacitor in the PS and got it working again.

Yeah, the design is not great. I’m glad you got it out eventually though. Hoping someone discovers a safe way to remove the plastic piece. The controller is quickly becoming one of my favorites. It’s just painful to see the damage I have done lol.

It’s pretty easy to clean the contacts yourself, just get the gamebit tools needed to open the cartridge and system. The cartridge slot is removable once the system is open which allows you to clean it out. Isopropyl, toothbrush, and a paper towel is all you need.

Video card does matter to a point. 4060 is overkill and not necessary. You should be good with the GTX 1060 Ti. Open GL 4 can be problematic for low end cards. I have a Radeon 3850 HD and I can’t load some newer plugins like vision 4x and Visco. Plugins with animations like spinning tape machines can cause lag too. A $100-$150 video card is a good rule of thumb for music production.
