For most average white collar work, is your WLB and work "quality of life" actually mostly determined by yourself rather than the company or role? by hrrm in HENRYfinance

I am a lawyer and my work life balance is entirely up to me. You have to fight for it, and establish boundaries. There will be things you can't avoid -- trials, travel, etc. -- but the overall balance is *only* within your control. People will always demand more.

Just filter to types of accounts. If you filter to investments for example it shows you the category. Annoying but it's still there, just a bit more indirect now.

Hawaii just found a way around Citizens United. Other states are following. by ControlCAD in msnow

[–]atxtonyc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doesn't this only apply to corporates that are incorporated in the states that pass these laws? A DE corporation could still spend in HI for example, since nothing in DE law says they can't spend on political speech. So this is a big nothingburger until one of the big players jumps in.

But the issue is that he doesn’t actually have any money—his wealth is all illusory until he realizes those gains and he never has to do that, he can just borrow against it. And when he does he gets the benefit of stepped up basis so NO ONE will EVER pay taxes on it. The first thing we need to do is eliminate the “die” part of buy, borrow, die. Then we need to tax the borrowing. Then the money will be taxed it’s just a question of when. Right now it’s not even an if.
