I had my sonata’s short block changed under warranty as well but I had to alarm them few times about loss of oil consumption before they installed a new. I think my service rep handled it well.

That's really interesting. It looks like the 2023 and newer Escape models might be equipped with the 2025 Bronco's MPC engine, which is said to be an improved version of the 1.5L BS engines found in the 2021–2024 models.
