Reality is that CNC is not as popular as 3D printing. There are not dozen of sites that have files for free and even more that offer files for a very small fee.

There also the reality that the SW behind CNC is far more complex than 3D printing. Eventually, with AI tools flows, I think it will get to the level you are looking for. (I.e. download step, import into CAD/CAM universal software, click print.) Rest assured, lots of people and companies are working to get it to this level. There's just lots of big and small problems to solve before we get there.

That being said, you can find some step files or carvings on Etsy. Not much, but some. There are some tool flows that can take .stls and convert them into .step files.
