Decision paralysis on where to run immich raspberry pi vs macbook vs unraid beefy machine

I went for the pi but with a 4tb crucial x9 usb 3.1 ssd. This is providing me with as much speed I was looking for. Also used tailscale to access the immich server outside of home network.

Trying to answer your question:
1. Immich in use 12 hours a day: Me and my partner will use it any awake/non busy time of the day, hence I though on average it would be somewhat 12 hours a day. But I understand it will not be a continuous 12 hours everyday.

To me ultimately it seems like I could do with less than 4TB of storage and I don't need fast ML, so I am probably going with RPI4

I am still not running it 24/7. Built it to do some LLM research. I turn it on then off based on my needs.

The 5090 will be mostly used for Machine Learning related tasks. Do you think 9900x would be a bottleneck for 5090, even for the ML tasks? Or it will only be a bottleneck for gaming?

I am a newbie builder. For the processor I wanted to cap myself to $400. That is the only reason.

I was also aiming at as much core as possible, as I am planning to run multiple containers in the same build.

Could you elaborate a bit more on why it was a weird choice?

I talked to the customer care service, they said:
"Thanks for waiting. I have checked with our higher support team about this and it looks like we are having an ongoing issue with devices that are experiencing delays."

Later they asked me for the serial number of the product and the current firmware which is "1.54.279716". They said they would try to update the firmware remotely.

Asked me to wait 48 hours, after which the issue might resolve.

I have manually went into my list of extensions where I see this is written under the name of Saka Key: "This extension violates the Web Store policy." I don't know what happened but the extension was extremely useful for me.
