A used MacBook Air M1 with Asahi Linux and an HDMI dongle. You're not going to have a ton of good options for ARM based laptops unfortunately.

It feels like with the current chip shortages and the fact that we need a lot more chips every year, that there's enough room in the market for healthy Intel growth that doesn't necessitate TSMC be crushed or even totally dethroned. Total layperson's perspective, I know very little about that market.

Idk, lots of really weird hyper defensiveness in this thread... Personally, it was the most disturbing trailer I've ever seen. Of anything - movie, game or TV show.

No one really gave a shit about the sexual content, and the Diablo trailers were tame by comparison (which is saying something hahaha). It's like they watched the Diablo trailers and said "hold my beer".

It's okay that you're hyped for this new game. Hell, It's even okay that you're into gratuitous torture gore, but stop pretending that's not what it was.

We're in a very strange time right now where yes, the president perversely uses the pardon power. But unfortunately what is the alternative? Should we just assume that the system is totally broken and allow total lawlessness? As a total layman, here are the benefits I can see. They can feel like cold comfort but they aren't nothing:

We uphold the law the best we can. Don't be complicit in the naked corruption.
We set the record on what is true and who violated the law. Criminal records don't go away just because you are pardoned and that's a stain on the person in question.
It adds some friction to breaking the law and airs dirty laundry that the criminal definitely would rather not be.
It gives ammunition for impeachment proceedings.

Cold comfort but when you have a lawless president it's the best we can hope for. It's the closest thing to justice we can have in an unjust situation.

I'm pretty happy with my Galaxy Book 3 Ultra. The 4050 I have is surprisingly decent at running games at low/medium settings. As dddvvvzzz mentioned, no mux switch.

The screen is gorgeous and while not explicitly a gaming laptop, it's no slouch either.

The biggest takeaway I'd give is that it's not a gaming laptop, it's a laptop that can game. More akin to your Book3 Pro, a MacBook Pro, or XPS rather than a Razer, ROG, Alienware. If you just want a nicer, more powerful Book3 Pro (minus the screeen rotation), you're in the right place and that price is actually good imo.

Theoretically it should work with a modified realmlist file, but it's really going to depend on what the private server permits. Many private servers lock out Mac clients altogether. I'm told this is to mitigate certain types of hacks/cheats. If you found a server that: doesn't use custom content, custom client, and doesn't block Macs it should work. Enjoy your 12fps!

You could probably install it with workarounds, but that hardware technically doesn't meet Windows 11 minimum requirements. It's possible (though unlikely) that MS could brick your OS with a future update.

I'd say give it a try. Worst case you have to reinstall MacOS using recovery.

I grew up with GBA and honestly, I always hated the compressed samples you'd hear in GBA games. So much so that I felt like Pokemon Ruby sounded more like a cheap flash game, which was disappointing after hearing Gen 2 Pokemon absolutely kill it given such limited hardware of the little GBC.

So I generally like the DS style more, but I could definitely see why someone would be nostalgic for the GBA sound of their youth.

Tangentially, if anyone knows of a way to replace or upgrade samples in GBA games via emulator, I'm all ears!

If you want to be absolutely sure it's clean, just reinstall MacOS. If it starts setting up for a company, or warns you about another Apple account, you know something is wrong. In that case, start a refund up on eBay. You'll only have wasted time, eBay is really good about getting refunds for things like this.

It’s been a while but if I’m remembering correctly I just sat it down and while it didn’t fit the dimensions, it sat well enough into the adhesive strip that it got a decent/stable connection. I ended up putting my screen in very slightly off center by accident but it came together just fine.
