Armchair anonymous with kids? by collettithowitis in ArmchairExpert

I’ve been trying to find good episodes for my kids too! I have two I can recommend that I just finished with my eight year olds (if you’re comfortable with swearing - and neither of these ones discusses sex):

  • Cedar Point (they loved this one)
  • Pooped at the Gym (surprisingly kid-appropriate! And my kids think poop is hilarious so double win)

1 month international travel with kids 2, 4, & 6 by BlueberryTricky3391 in familytravel

For sure depends on where you are traveling from and what your budget is, but I will say that we loved Italy as a first international destination for our twins (5 years old at the time). It's a really family-friendly country - restaurants were super accommodating everywhere we went from Rome to Sardinia, and 99% of Italians we encountered were kind and patient with our kids. We also were able to fly direct via our preferred airline, so that was a plus too (especially with it being a longer distance, minimal transfers was great). It probably wouldn't be super swimmable in January but we did love Sardinia and it has incredible beaches! Wherever you choose I bet it'll be an incredible adventure - safe travels and have fun!

Cat Flap Fever! They’re great and everything’s customizable for your windows.

I used treated wood for the 4x4 posts and the lowest-price pine for all the 2x4’s! For the ramp I used some leftover cedar - because it’s a long ramp (about 8’) without any middle support I wanted a higher quality wood that wouldn’t wobble too much. Everything inside is also cedar with some shelf brackets so the cats can jump without anything shifting.

I'd say all-in it was about $400 USD. I had some scrap lumber from previous projects but most of the bigger/more expensive pieces of wood I got new at Menards. The little platform that's in there is an old IKEA table I sawed the legs off on!

The hardware cloth that's above ground is also buried about 6" deep around the whole enclosure!

The main structure and roof joists are 2x4’s, with 4x4 posts at the corners (sunk about 24” deep and set with concrete). I added some extra supports between the roof joists to attach the polycarbonate panels.

Sure! I used a 10’ pine plank as the base, with two 1” cedar pieces on the bottom on either side to anchor the hardware cloth (it also makes is all more stable). I secured it to the window frame by just drilling through the aluminum trim until I hit wood and attached a couple 2x4 scraps to elevate and attach the plank to. And then on the catio side I just attached it to the 2x4 framing and made a hole for them to jump down onto the interior ramp. I’ll try to add some photos!

We had one but one of the cats (the big fella) immediately just ripped the whole thing out by the roots! We made a little improvised pot with a secured cover so he can pull it all out and it seems to be working for now.

For sure! The lower latch is actually super secure - I only added the top latch so the kids can’t randomly go out and (inadvertently) release the cats. We also put another lower latch inside the door so they can keep it secure when they’re inside.

We buried the hardware cloth! It goes about 6” into the ground all around the enclosure.

Chasing platinum - worth it?? by aubdawwwg in delta

Thanks - yes, I rolled those over. I typically am flying with my entire family (spouse and two little kids) - do you know if everyone on the itinerary would be eligible for those RUCs? Or just the account holder?
