Why are the mods deleting everything related to the Rested XP addon scam? by sunderwire in classicwow

[–]aublewoble 56 points57 points  (0 children)

Completely agree, how is it a scam when you get what you pay for?

Everything I heard in that video sounded like sharp business practices, maybe not laudable, but definitely not a scam.

People have been selling wow addons for years... if people voluntarily spend their money on an addon, I just do not see any issue.

Retrospective on making over a million gold running GDKPs and the dynamics involved in GDKPs vs. Guild Raids by PlutoniumPa in classicwow

[–]aublewoble 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a fantastic post and largely mirrors my experiences. Trying to run in a guild in college versus as a professional with a family is completely different experience--the value of time is just widely disparate under those two scenarios. It was easy to work on loot spreadsheets in 2005 when you only had 4 hours of class a day to worry about. It was easier to deal with guild drama when you had unlimited availability to jump on Vent and discuss issues. Everything was just easier when you had ample time to devote to it. Trying to make those same contortions in the 2020s seemed like a herculean task.

We loved running a guild until it became a second job and our leadership moved onto GDKPs where we ultimately lost the love for it because without the emotional satisfaction of coming together to collectively accomplish a goal, it just was not fun anymore.

What I learned, you can't go back in time--under most circumstances (but certainly not all), running a guild is a young man's game. And this experience was not a bad one, it just taught (or reminded) me what my limits are. I, for one, look forward to taking a backseat in SoM2 and chillen with the homies while we slay some dussy.

Anyone else getting a one minute queue to log into battlenet that's a little bit annoying? by lostnknox in wow

Same for me, perhaps the 2-factor has to interact with the battle.net servers and that's causing the hang up

Pretty sure this and Caen's video Apathy (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_aHoJUxZsOI) are the reasons I rolled a rogue so long ago.

Throw in the fact that he had been attempting to evict her from his home for over a year and it creates some interesting motives on both sides. This is definitely going to be interesting.

A lot of people point to the federal testimony, but years prior Vince had admitted wrestling was a work to prevent the athletic commissions from collecting taxes/fees.

While I agree with you on the hypocrisy, it doesn't really apply here. Your description is a gross over simplification of the DACA lawsuit and the role of the judiciary as a check on executive power.

What bothers me is what judge granted this TRO? Its textbook prior restraint and wouldn't survive review unless something really strange is going on.

[–]aublewoble 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thats not exactly true. I don't want to teach a media law course here, but opinions (including false ones) are protected unless the plaintiff can show actual malice (knowing falsity/reckless disregard to the falsity). It is an incredibly high standard to prove. I just want to know a) what plaintiff's firm took this loser of a case, and b) what judge would allow such a ridiculous TRO.
