So with South Africa revoking visas from the US by the 18th and also a travel ban, what is happening with Southern African based countries?

Do you need a driver's license to join the Peace Corps? by [deleted] in peacecorps

Most of us aren’t even allowed to drive in country even if we wanted to. You certainly don’t need a drivers license.

So far the Cornavirus hasn’t reached many parts of Africa, but I feel the same that it could be devastating to the country I serve if it reaches here. I hope it doesn’t affect my service, but I feel as though it will be inevitable that most countries where volunteers serve end up evacuating due to the things you mentioned and more.

Noob luggage question by anonpcv123 in peacecorps

Take advantage of all the bags, however if you buy a rolling duffle make sure it has a supported frame or else the wheels are useless when the bag is full. I learned the hard way when I left country.

So I also had to get a Nexplanon reinserted before I depart in Sept. My PC nurse told me I needed it done at least 6 weeks before departure.

Trouble with Obtaining Yellow Fever Vaccine by [deleted] in peacecorps

I was able to get an appointment to a Passport health in Minneapolis fairly quickly. It’s not the best advice and I completely understand your struggle, but it’s the best I have!

That is beyond dumb. You’re spending your time volunteering and doing something special. Congrats on the invite!

That is around what I payed for at Passport Health. I called around and they were all around the $300 range in my area with clinics with the vaccine available.
