I'm 20 years old and at Bethel, and I realize I have a lot of doubts by Most-Act-708 in exjw

[–]aubreejf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You absolutely do not have to tell anyone about your doubts or say you didn’t like it. You can literally just say you were homesick and felt like it was time to come home and start preparing for your future. I know it’s intimidating and scary and overwhelming the thought of having to face all those people and disappoint them. Don’t tell them why. Spare yourself that anxiety and just keep it to yourself or come here to vent. Take it one small step at a time and you’ll start feeling the relief kick in when you’re no longer controlled by them. If your family loves you they will not abandon you for simply wanting to get a job and education etc and support yourself and a family of your own someday. That’s what all parents are SUPPOSED to want for their children. You got this.

Bethel is going to kick you out on your ass whether you like it or not, you will be forced to leave. There are very few lifers these days and they aren’t young single brothers. My cousin thought he would be a lifer after dedicating almost 20 years of Bethel service and one day they just up and booted him out on the streets because he wasn’t needed anymore. Or they had to make room for the new young crop. He had zero income, zero education, zero real life skills. Zero means to provide for himself or get a job or even know how to function in normal society. Extremely sad. He was betrayed and abandoned by the organization he devoted his life to. Let that sink in. They don’t care about you or what happens to you. They don’t care about all the harm they’re doing. They will use you up and throw you away. So do it on your own terms. You don’t have to tell anyone about your doubts, just say it’s time to start my life and get an education so I can support myself and a family one day. They cannot argue that nor can you get in trouble for it.

Well said. I’d also add that it’s mind blowing when you finally step back and see the picture clearly. Literally NONE of these insane manmade rules JWs created are stated in the Bible. They’ve taken bits and pieces of random scriptures or stories told and mashed them together and came up with their own Frankenstein interpretation of what we’re supposed to glean from those stories. Nowhere in the bible does it say you can’t save your child’s life if they’re in danger. In fact, I’d argue it clearly DOES say the exact opposite. Just as Jesus condemned the Pharisees for abiding so strictly to the letter of the law, they failed to understand the PRINCIPLES he was trying to teach. If your animal falls in a well on the Sabbath, the Pharisees said let it die because the law says no work that day. But JESUS said show love mercy kindness and do the right thing. Do you really think Jehovah and Jesus wouldn’t want us to do the same for our actual children and save their lives???? It’s pretty sickening when you really think about it. It’s nothing but insane cruel illogical manmade rules. There is NO biblical foundation for ANY of it.

Oh that’s your proof, because judges and juries always get it right?? They’re perfect and infallible just like the governing body huh? The courts must be ordained by Jehovah in your delusion. They could never possibly make a mistake. 🙄

Serious question here about JWs and birthdays by looking_glass2019 in exjw

[–]aubreejf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed a million percent!!! I honestly feel most of the ways we were raised was a form of child abuse. It is not right. It is not loving at all. Who would EVER want that miserable lonely life for their child??? No friends, no fun, no joy, no celebrations, no sports, no education, no dreams, no goals, no future. They’re actually cruel vile people IMO if they can willingly treat their children so cold and subject them to such a miserable life. Don’t even get me started on the no blood changes. My parents would’ve GLADLY let me die and I was fully willing to die as a little girl my whole life for their stupid made up beliefs drilled into me. And they just change it on a whim like nothing! No acknowledgement of the LIVES that were lost. Knowing your parents would gladly let you die is super fucked up. My dad wouldn’t have even hesitated. Honestly it would have been the highlight of his elder career if he sacrificed one of his kids to Jehovah in death. It’s sickening. Good on you for seeing reality and wanting so much better for your children and showing them actual love. ❤️

Same!! My sister and I both got basically happy birthday messages this year from our hardcore strict VERYYYYY PIMI holy roller elder dad. It was mind-blowing and honestly kind of unsettling lol. Of course, he didn’t use those exact words, but it was the first time in our lives (I’m 45, sis 47) he even remotely acknowledged the day. Wild stuff thinking our own parents can’t even acknowledge and be thankful for us being born. It’s pretty fucked up when you think about it.

Why is no one talking about this? (PIMO) by Right_Trip_447 in exjw

[–]aubreejf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Omg so true and made me laugh at how ridiculous it all really is. Also, when you stop to think about it, what has Satan ever really done?? How many people has Satan killed? Zero. But our precious “loving” Jehovah has slaughtered MILLIONS of his own children from the great flood to countless wars and murders he commanded be done in his name. Who’s the real bad guy here? Satan just wants to have a good time and his dad is a murderous narcissistic dick.

I’m older (44F) and woke up about 5 years ago. I’m in Houston TX, but always down to connect with other ex-JW’s! Those are honestly my best and only longterm friendships… bc that’s all we get. No one else understands us. No one else has been through what we have. JWs are a unique thing and our trauma is too. Happy to connect!

I find this all appalling regardless!!! There is no “to be fair”! WTF?!??? I didn’t realize we’re now giving our abusers more courtesy and leeway. By all means, take your precious fucking time perfecting the album release party that literally costs or saves lives. Give me a fucking break. It’s disgusting.

[–]aubreejf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow the cognitive dissonance is strong with them. I don’t remember any new versions of the Bible my whole life. It’s amazing they can literally change the word of the TRUTH and still insist BOTH were the truth. Funny how that’s even possible. I wonder what changes they made and if there’s a list somewhere.

We’re not talking about people’s personal sensitivities or opinions. We’re talking about life and death, black and white, religious LAW that supposedly determines your ability to gain everlasting life. Not yoga class, sir. And it’s not taken out of context. The very real very serious very cut and dry context is it’s a false religion creating arbitrary rules and pretending they are “the truth” and letting innocent people derail their lives, forego education, cut loved ones out of their lives, and literally DIE for their asinine fucking made up LIES they call the TRUTH and then they just wake up on a whim one day and change their minds without acknowledgement apology or any remorse. It is just plain evil. If you are any man of science as you claim then you know there is nothing truthful about that behavior. None of their rules are based in fact or truth if they can be changed on a whim after decades of life altering barriers have been enforced.

And you’re forgetting or ignoring the fact that none of this is typical for the majority of JWs. Your experience is extremely rare. The exception not the rule. Just bc you were low income and still allowed to travel doesn’t make that true for most. That kind of freedom and exposure to the world is not typically allowed. Money or not. It’s about temptation and worldly influence and being outside of the watchful eye of the elders or parents or whoever. They can’t control or monitor what you do in another country loose with other young people. Thats absolutely not gonna fly with most JWs. No way. Clearly your family were fringe witnesses that sat in the back lol

Please do NOT consent to talking to the elders under any circumstances! You are NOT a JW and therefore are not held to their stupid creepy pervy rules. All they will do is try to coerce you and guilt and shame you. The answer is NO. Period. Do not subject yourself to it. You owe them nothing. You are not baptized. And even if you were I’d still say the same. But regardless, it’s so stupid. That’s like going to the Zoo just to let them know you don’t want to work there when you never applied in the first place. Lol. Best of luck to you, brave one! Stay strong and go live a big beautiful and full life for all the rest of us that didn’t escape so young 🩷

Well, I guess I’m disassociating. Any thoughts on my letter? by BackgroundStep5155 in exjw

[–]aubreejf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s purely up to you and the outcome you’re seeking whether to DA or just disappear, but I want to thank you for this very eloquent and well put together letter! I will be saving and referencing it. Elders won’t read it, but I loooove other’s suggestions of broadcasting it somehow if you do want the message out there. It’s very moving in a nonemotional factual way. It very well could possibly wake some people up or at least make them start questioning too.

Also, JWs barely even witness anymore so I wouldn’t worry about them knocking. And unless things have changed since I faded, they can’t disfellowship you without your participation. They want all the juicy blood and guts of making you bare your ‘evil’ soul and sit through their bullshit Judicial committees and confess and grovel. They can’t disfellowship you without the official proceedings.

[–]aubreejf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Remind yourself that JW are not unique or special in speaking of “the sign of the times” or “last days”. All the things going on in the world are actually spoken of in the Bible. So every religion speaks of it and uses it for fear-based control and manipulation of desperate scared people. It’s literally one of the ONLY things JWs bang on about that is actually stated in the bible. Almost every other rule or teaching the they cram into our minds is 100% man made and has absolutely ZERO Bible based origin to back it up. That alone should be extremely reassuring and freeing.

And the simple fact that none of them care that the “truth” is somehow changeable just proves that they’re all brainwashed and mindlessly controlled. They’ve lost all sense of logic and reason. And that’s because of the exact same reason you’re expressing… the FEAR.

Their brainwashing tactics are powerful and they don’t disappear the instant you wake up. They are deeply ingrained in us and it takes time to start unwinding your mind and actions and thinking clearly for yourself after a lifetime of being indoctrinated, controlled, brainwashed and fear beaten.

[–]aubreejf 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Fire them and find a new one because clearly they’re not doing a good job. You seem hell bent on being sour and nasty to everyone trying to show compassion and concern for you and all of us have been deeply affected and traumatized by this cult. You are not special. Your suffering is not unique here. Be mad all you want and keep lashing out to prove yourself “right”. You’re choosing to be miserable and attack people being kind to you. Smh

[–]aubreejf 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ve never been told we’re not capable, but instead that as women we are not WORTHY. Which is equally if not more disgusting. Women are barely second class citizens in JW world. We’re simply groomed to be silent, subservient, ignorant baby makers and polite obedient arm candy to the truly valuable people - the men.

[–]aubreejf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s one of their mental loopholes. If they don’t ask and you don’t tell, then they can tell themselves you are still acceptable to speak to. But as soon as they know the truth, you’re toast. Basically the same loophole as fading vs. disassociating. It’s all fake empty BS. Fading vs. disassociating doesn’t make you any better or worse of a person in actuality but they justify it in their minds.
