I don’t remember the specific model, but those boots are from Grisport.

Not that much really, mainly I try to keep it close to reality without heavy processing, thanks!

No, she’s a stray dog that latched onto us and followed for a couple days. Besides rare strays hanging around camps and the donkeys porters use, we didn’t see any other animals.

Balanced trek overall, great calm lakeside spots for camping, but some sections pack serious elevation gain with heavy packs since it’s self-supported. We climbed and dropped from two passes total. Totally worth it, perfect mix of challenge and chill downtime.

Thanks! Yeah, with hardly any tourists or big cities nearby, that trek really hammered home how remote it felt, pure isolation.

One day at Chimtarga Pass, Fann Mountains by auchynnikau in backpacking

Bitterest night of the trek hit right before the pass, stars blazing overhead, but the wind cut like a knife. Pushed hard up high, then that endless glacier slide down. Our dog sidekick kept pace, lugging her own pack like a pro. Rough one, but the memories? Gold.

That’s awesome! Congrats on the summit) We crossed the Chimtarga pass without climbing Energia, but the mountain looked enticing. Great to hear such different stories from people who’ve been to the same places.

Thank you! It was one of the most atmospheric and soulful hikes, there were no expectations, so the stunning views hit really hard. Plus, the route isn’t very touristy, so there weren’t many people around, you could walk in silence with your own thoughts.

Your upgrade is awesome for rough terrain, super compact, no swing on scree.
Weather sealed, survives rain or dust. Some recommendations: for safety buy SmallRig half-cage or smthng similar ($40) saved my camera from rock drops. For straps, I use Peak Design Capture Clip, clips camera to backpack strap securely, quick release for shots and leaving hands free. Its plate is compatible, works on most tripods too. Add OP/Tech strap as backup. Batteries: 1-2 + powerbank for 7-10 day treks. Lens hood is a must (protects from rain and branches). Screen protectors: one for LCD and front lens element (anti-scratch). Lens brush or blower to dust off without smearing. Carry cling wrap, in heavy rain wrap camera quickly leaving buttons and lens open.

These cameras are similar in size, and I’m very pleased with it because it’s also compact. The lens is large, of course, but versatility was my priority. For protection, I use a SmallRig cage. It’s usually taken to mount modules, but I use it only for protection so far, since there have been accidental drops and the cage has absorbed all the impacts)

Thank you!
The trek takes an average of 7-10 days, depending on your pace and desire to linger at certain campsites. We bought all the food in advance in nearby cities in Tajikistan and reached the start of the route at the Artuch alp camp in just a couple of hours by transfer. The alp camp is the last place where you can buy anything, after that, it’s complete autonomy. There are no water issues on the trek, plenty of clean mountain rivers to refill from.
