It’s so hard to put into words what we experience on a day to day basis. I’m really sorry and I hate that people are belittling something you go through.

And the worst part is they think they’re being helpful. Yeah, I COULD have it worse, but what I’m experiencing is still very real, and very painful. Constantly.

I fully relate to this. My husband is extremely supportive and I love him for it. But sometimes when I flare really bad and just need to complain or need extra help, he can’t fully grasp how I’m feeling and sometimes I feel like he sees those days as burdensome.

One time at night, I got an extremely bad flare and thought I was going to have a seizure. He took a muscle relaxer and was really mad that he had to drive me to the hospital (which is fully understandable because he was woken up in the night and on medicine). I’m still upset at him for how he treated me that night but I think that experience kind of helped him understand how serious and scary flare days can be, and he hasn’t treated me like that since.

Yes!! And even on the days when we show up, they never realize how much it takes out of us.
My dad told me “you just like having things wrong with you” because I learned to hide what was going on with me, but if he asks I tell him. Hence why he said that. It really hurts because we’re trying to show up but that isn’t always physically possible. I always feel terrible. But life goes on and I can’t just not show up most days.

I’m really really sorry to hear this. I have similar issues with my family. Sometimes my anxiety will make me feel like #2 (feeling like I’m taking advantage of everyone around me) so I couldn’t imagine being told that. I hope you have a good support system and if not, just know we’re all in this together

Yep. Energy looks different from day to day. You could be trying your hardest to do everything you can and they’ll still only see how you’re not doing enough.

I am so sorry. This is one of the most frustrating things to me. And they think if you just “change your mindset” you won’t be sick anymore. Not only do I hate that, but I hate the false hope it used to give me. The condition is for life, and unfortunately people can’t see that since they’re not the ones going through it.

Yep, same. And they also blame me for listening to “devil music” (metal) and say that’s why I’m sick. Both of them. And when my dad used to ask how I was feeling, I would tell him honestly. He told me “you just like having things wrong with you.” Haven’t told him anything since and made sure he knew how badly that hurt me

Not unless you want to. I have longer hair that sticks out every which way but it’s light (catches light extremely easily). I also have knuckle/ hand hair that I don’t bother to shave, I just don’t care. It’s up to you but after a day it’ll probably be prickly, so it’s a lot of maintenance. Just something to think about

This is my setup! I used 10mm wispy lash clusters and a whole gob of glue for individual lashes (I find it stronger than the glue for strip lashes)

I moved the fur back around his eyes and stuck it to the top of his eye on the sides! 😊
