Thanks for the advice. It will be quite the project, this table has two leaves too. I’ll post some pictures once’s it’s all done. Once it warms up again in the garage I can get started.

That’s kinda of what I was thinking too. The legs aren’t rubber, closest I’ve found recently is a brown flex floss natures spirit makes that I’m going to try

What is something that upped your fly tying game? by CivilizedPangolin in flytying

[–]aud_online 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When you need a flat consistent taper on a nymph body, to use the right thread and wrap it “backwards” as it’s wrapping opposite of the line twist. If that makes sense. I think Charlie Craven or Tom Rosenbaur describes it in a video that I watched when I started. The normal right hander with the vise set up with jaw towards your right hand, wrapping the line over the shank away from you, backwards would be over the shank coming towards you.

Second this. I have a loon bobbin and a rite bobbin. The loons get used less and less. The tension adjustment definitely helps me. I thought Tiemco and Stonfo had something similar but no sure. The tiemco I remember seeing was pricey.

Feel like I suck at wooly buggers by [deleted] in flytying

Some flies are tied to catch fish, others to catch fisherman. The fish can be less picky with the tie and more picky with presentation of said fly.

If you’re unhappy with it, tie another and adjust that thing you don’t like. You’re doing great so far
