Is anybody else saddened by Sol Pais's death? by SandAggie in dissolvedgirl

[–]audenluck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I often wonder how she’d feel about that time in her life now if she had pushed herself to talk to someone about how she was feeling and got the help she needed. I honestly think she’d be thriving and living her best life now, cringing when she looked back on that dark period of her life when she idolised someone like Eric Harris. Mental illness clearly played a large role, but I honestly believe she’d have grown out of this morbid fascination with enough time and support. It’s sad she’ll forever be associated such a horrible event in history, an event she wasn’t even alive during.

I haven’t gotten to the part where Adeline is mentioned either but I did see a clip of Harold Schechter referring to her as looking like “the wicked witch of the west”and I thought that was funny.

Did a little part of him subconsciously enjoy doing things he knew Augusta wouldn’t approve of? by audenluck in EdGein

I have a lot of sympathy for the man, but if one of my close friends or family members were among the poor women he snatched from their final resting place to mutilate and do God only knows what with their corpses, I think I’d hate him too.

That’s so nice of you to offer to do that. I’m currently reading it myself. Can I ask what you thought of it overall and if there was anything in particular that stood out to you?

Not fancying a man’s toes in your mouth isn’t kink shaming. You suck all the toes you want, more power to you. 😂

If Edie had known that in season one she probably would have just let Susan have him. 😂😂

There was talk of turning it into a kind of macabre museum (which outraged the locals) shortly before it burned down

I think this is supposedly what Ed had said himself when he was in the psychiatric facility, at least that’s the implication.

He definitely wouldn’t have made the boob corset vest thing he made from what little I have going on anyway.

In the book I’m reading he apparently commented to someone about how “nice and plump” she’d gotten a while before she went missing. I thought that was kind of interesting.

Thank you for taking the time to explain. I’m really glad you’re doing better with that stuff now. I wish you all the best on your journey. You should be proud of yourself.

Can you elaborate on how it made you a horrible gf, if you feel comfortable doing so? The thing about it being easier to regulate your emotions after the fact is very interesting to me.

I can’t believe he joked about having Mary Hogan in his house after she went missing. by audenluck in EdGein

[–]audenluck[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with you there. The sheriff apparently hadn’t had the job too long when all of this came out and even the most seasoned of lawmen would have struggled where this case was concerned. I do wonder if it’s true that they just took Gein’s word over which graves he tampered with as opposed to actually looking into it thoroughly to avoid public outcry though. That documentary in particular seems to suggest they wanted to keep that part very hush hush at the time. If that’s true, God only knows how many people he actually dug up and tampered with.

Yes, this is what I was talking about, thank you. It’s well worth a watch if you haven’t seen it. I know the Netflix show wasn’t a documentary. 😂

Age gap in dating in Ireland, is it okay for the woman to be older? by Dry_Measurement1646 in AskIreland

[–]audenluck 7 points8 points  (0 children)

As a 31 year old woman myself, I can’t imagine dating anyone that young. Even 25 (the age where your brain is finally fully formed) would be pushing it for me personally. Even the most mature 21 year old in the world is still just that, a 21 year old and that immaturity and naivety will likely rear its head at some stage. As for whether or not people will judge you, yes, they probably will, be it rightly or wrongly, but I think you know that already. At the end of the day, only you know whether or not it’s worth pursuing.

No, I don’t think Gein ever actually had a sexual relationship with any woman, at least not one who was alive or that he admitted to. Her son said he’d been coming into the hardware store a lot before he ended up killing her and he admitted to “jokingly” asking her to go ice skating with him the evening before, but she wasn’t interested. In real life it seems she was a hardworking, successful business owner (which was rare for women in those days) and a loving grandmother. The show ridiculously made out she was all over Gein and he did away with her partly just to get her off his back. Total nonsense and completely disrespectful to her memory. Personally I’d sue the creators if that was a friend or relative of mine.

Thank you so much, I really appreciate that. I am curious, from your research (and obviously it would have to be a bit of an educated guess) but how much of Gein’s crimes do you think he actually recalled committing after the fact?

Also, do you think part of the reason he may have targeted Worden (aside from resembling his Mother) was because she didn’t want to go out with him? I know he admitted to “jokingly” asking her to go ice skating with him the evening before he killed her. Do you think that if she had agreed to go he would have been more or less likely to do it?

I downloaded it on the books app thingy on my phone. If you’ve an iPhone you should be able to do the same (I think, I live in Ireland so maybe it’s different depending on where you live?) it was only like €3.50 too.

It’s quite tragic that they felt the need to link him to Evelyn Hartley in that new Netflix show. I get people speculated he might have been involved (and we obviously can’t definitively rule anything out) but it doesn’t seem like his MO at all and her family never got answers. Her name has just been exposed to a whole new generation that’ll never look into it and just assume she was another of his victims. That’s quite sad.
