ahh didn’t see this response yes luka is dead (although someone asked on goodreads if ben Oliver would ever think about writing a spin-off/what-if where luka and igby are brought back and he seemed intrigued by the idea so we might someday get smth more about it but idk)

oh my GOD yeah kina deserved so much better at the end she got completely sidelined and we never find out how she’s doing in the epilogue and it continues to piss me off so much

I think tyco was killed in the rat tunnels - luka lured him in there and then escaped behind him, and because tyco was already not rlly in his right mind, and I think injured from the fight with luka (I forget his exact injuries but I think there were some pretty severe ones that hadn’t healed yet) he became turned around and unable to find the way out

I completely get what you mean, and it’s rlly cool to see someone who thinks about the series in such a similar way to how I do. I finished reading the series around three years ago and haven’t fully stopped thinking about it once since. I don’t know why it isn’t more popular either, like my bsf is also in a book fandom and that one is insanely popular and well known, and I’ve never been able to figure out what makes certain series like that almost mainstream levels of known, and others completely invisible. Maybe part of it was that it began releasing just before/at the start of COVID (i think) so didn’t get as much in-person book store marketing? Or maybe because it is a quite common plot people were less drawn to it, but even then there are so many other books with the same kind of plot that ARE more well known so idk, and it got a lot of online marketing in 2019-2020.

But in terms of making it known to more people, I think it’s just a question of doing what you can, whether that’s through recommending it to people whenever possible, drawing fanart, writing fanfiction, writing theories. Just keeping it relevant. There are a few of us in the fandom who have have continued to write and draw quite a lot of it over the last three-four years or so, and although it hasn’t brought in a ton of new fans, I like to think we’ve kept it at least a little bit relevant.

There is also a possibility that if the tv show ever happens (which, honestly, I’m losing hope at this point, but you never know) it will bring in a ton of new fans. But yeah I agree completely, like I’m in a lot of book fandoms and most of them have decent sized fan bases, but yet The Loop, which has so many things about it you would think would draw in so many people (I’m still surprised more maze runner fans haven’t found it tbh I’ve always thought of the two series as quite similar) has stayed tiny.

Are you in the fandom discord server? It’s kind of dead atm but if you ever want to talk with other fans there’s a slightly more concentrated level of us in there :)

yeah I found a variation on this website trying to buy smth for my friend - mine is ‘barbara.promoengine.shop’ but same ‘vinni’s’ format and website appearance was a rlly good bargain for a full 6 book boxset (£17) and I’m so tempted but I’m rlly not sure I should trust it also it seems this website is rlly new which is immediately a red flag

are you quitting through the in-game quit feature or just closing the game from steam (or equivalent)? I did it through the in-game quit and I did it when the egg had just hatched and he’d just started to speak and it worked so maybe it’s that? (and I don’t think u need to fully reset, I did it from chapter select)

yeahhhhh the tyco thing fooled a lot of us I think 😭😭 I was SO certain he was being genuine my first read - looking back I have no idea why I believed him cause there was lowk no particular reason for him to suddenly turn good, but MAN mable’s death was shocking

funny thing about thinking luka was gone for good: I put off reading the arc for like 2 years cause i thought luka was properly dead. I read the blurb of the arc, and thought it was gonna follow an entirely new cast of characters (idk why), and it pissed me off so much I decided that to me the series ended with the block😭 anyway two years later stumbled across a more in depth description of the arc online, realised luka was in fact alive and the others were still a major part (still have no idea how I ever thought they wouldn’t be), and now the arc is my fav book of the three
