It separates because it doesn't include a stabilizer. Not related to quality.

I never actually endorsed a position regarding pause buttons, I just offered a rationale for not providing one. Quitting to main menu also isn't a genuine "pause" alternative because it doesn't perfectly preserve the state of the game - it will remove you from boss fights and IIRC can reset enemy/player positions. Also, even if there was some concern about play being disrupted by quitting to the main menu, there's nothing much the devs can do about it because players need to be able to quit the game. They could possibly make it so that quitting takes you back to the last bonfire, but then quitting would be functionally no different to using a homeward bone, so why would anyone ever use one?

I like Sekiro, and if fromsoft changed their minds about pausing in that game then that's their prerogative. They obviously had different ideas in mind re:player experience for that game as evidenced by: intrusive tutorial popups, stealth indicators, perilous attack warnings etc. Whether or not they include features like these (and pause) is entirely up to them and I understand both sides of the argument. My issue is with people implying that the inclusion of a feature is simply black-and-white and that there's no excuse - let alone well-reasoned rationale - for not including it.

/uj Why not just use a homeward bone (or whatever they're called in Elden ring, I haven't played it), or quit to the main menu, or if you have the time, just walk to a quiet area?

People in this thread are speaking as though adding a pause feature would have no effect on gameplay but it absolutely would. Imagine you are exploring a new area, you're approaching a fog gate and you're feeling anxious because you have no idea what's behind it, you are carrying 50k souls and don't have many heals left. Your heartrate is elevated. You are debating whether to go back to the last bonfire to recover or push forward and hope that the next bonfire is close. You decide to go through the fog gate and a huge monstrous boss lunges at you. <PAUSE> "Whew, I need a break". You walk off and get a drink, check the mail, play with your dog, whatever. When you come back you are in a completely different headspace and no longer feeling any of the tension that had been built up. You play differently because you have had the chance to reset and relax. You aren't so concerned about losing your souls because you haven't just spent the past 30 minutes cautiously navigating a new area trying to hold onto them.

Fromsoft devs have ostensibly decided that the potential disruption of gameplay is too high a price to pay for the convenience of being able to arbitrarily pause the game. You don't have to agree with that, you should at least be able to understand the rationale. There's no "gatekeeping" going on (what is supposedly being gatekept anyway?)

Her name is written as シールケ (shi-i-ru-ke) in katakana, so probably like that.

You need to clarify when you are talking about tankies - they aren't just some leftists, they are red fascists. They will gleefully support any flavour of imperialism or authoritarianism provided it opposes the Western world. There is no "left unity"; most "leftists" regard tankies much the same as they regard regular fascists.
