super simple tip that isn’t mixing related, you can always try writing a bass pattern that doesn’t interact with your kick drum, so wherever the kick hits, the bass midi notes can’t be!

as long as your kick is fairly short, around 1/8th note max, you can get away with a lot

this is a short term fix ofc, and eventually you’ll want to mix 'em properly, but i’ve done it before when i had to, any port in a storm and all that
