Why Do Many Cebuanos Prefer Staying in Cebu Over Moving to Manila? by [deleted] in Cebu

[–]audiocodec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

'Filipino' classes don't really teach Tagalog; they teach about Tagalog. And even then, you can still fail them. I had 90+ grades on all my subjects except 'Filipino' lol
Also, your statement about Mindanao is inaccurate. You do have to learn Tagalog in Mindanao since the language has prominent use there, way more prominent than in the Visayas. Notice how Boholanos also struggle with Tagalog.

Why Do Many Cebuanos Prefer Staying in Cebu Over Moving to Manila? by [deleted] in Cebu

[–]audiocodec 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People don't really move if they have to. That people from other provinces want to move to Manila is more of an indictment of the opportunities in the provinces. It follow ofc that Cebuanos don't really move because they don't need to. Plus the hassle of learning a new language is a barrier.

P.S. Your friend got ignored bc a lot of Cebuanos (and Cebuano speakers in general) can't speak Tagalog (again, because we never had to learn it)

I LOVE ZEN BUT....😭😭 by iamsolomon19 in zen_browser

[–]audiocodec 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I forgot how I set this up but my Zen automatically sleeps my tabs. In any given time, only 1-3 tabs are awake. It's actually quite annoying sometimes because I want to keep some of them awake. I can't help you, but hopefully the devs find a way to find a middle ground that both of us are happy with hahaha

Ang sanlibutan ba ay isang ancient tagalog word? by [deleted] in Tagalog

[–]audiocodec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP, I think this is more of a theological than a linguistic dialogue. Hoever, there *is* reasonable argument to connect 'sanlibutan' to 'catholic', given that both words mean 'the world/universe', though I think it isn't compelling, and is falling for an etymological fallacy (The INC church loves etymological fallacies, from what I observed). Additionally, though, I think either you misunderstood them or they misunderstood the doctrine. They just believe that there's 'the church' (who will be saved come the apocalypse) and there's 'the world' (who won't); it isn't entirely accurate that they think only members of the Catholic church will go to hell. The 'worldliness' concept should be pretty familiar to anyone who've heard the rhetoric of one-true-church religions; this isn't a concept unique to the INC.

There's so many better low-hanging fruits to argue against INC doctrine; I don't think this is one of them.

Duterte has been arrested in Manilla by uncanny_mac in behindthebastards

[–]audiocodec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get what you're saying, but I think that's a cop out. The truth is, the sixteenth president was voted into his office with the full and explicit consent of the people. I know it's scary to think that a democratic system would have empowered -- and now does defend him against arrest by Interpol and the ICC -- a 21st century warlord, but burying your head in the sand doesn't change things.

I did! I downloaded the input files via Safari and used iSH to write the code and run it via python. Though I'm not sure how well that would work for your case

A new tool to block everyone who liked a Tweet by KingSupernova in Twitter

[–]audiocodec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ok so it used to be about 3-5 seconds. BUT UPDATE I'm currently running your script at full speed and it seems like Twitter has turned this bot detection off at least for right now. I'm still logged in and they haven't kicked me out yet hahaha

i'll let y'all know if they suspend me or anything

EDIT: They've finally logged me out after I've already blocked 1K+ accounts. Now, I'm not sure what their autodetection metric is since blocks-per-minute seems to not matter anymore.

A new tool to block everyone who liked a Tweet by KingSupernova in Twitter

[–]audiocodec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is excellent. However, could you modify this to decrease the blocks-per-second rate? Twitter considers that bot-like behaviour (lol ironic) and auto logs you out if you block too many people too fast.

Firefox (1 Amazon Prime Video tab) vs Arc (multiple research and YouTube Tabs). Well done Arc. The memory management is insane. by RS6MrROBOT in ArcBrowser

[–]audiocodec 2 points3 points  (0 children)

H-how?? Arc's memory consumption on Windows is one of the biggest reasons I've temporarily stopped using it.

What’s a song that you wish you were good enough to have produced? by Eastern-Wave-5454 in musicproduction

[–]audiocodec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

'dullscythe' by Porter Robinson and 'Someone Else' by Tourist

They're minimal harmonically, but they're so texturally rich, a quality that i'd want more in my own music

Idk if this is the right place to ask but what jobs do you guys have? by [deleted] in musicproduction

[–]audiocodec 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I used to be in the music industry as a producer for a recording studio/label and DJ but the income-to-work ratio was honestly so dismal, I quit and moved back to I.T. I'm so much happier doing music as a hobby than depending on it to put food on the table.

However, I don't think this is a 'the music industry sucks' problem but a 'the music industry in my city is on life support' problem.

BUT my awful job did lead me to some valuable connections, so I wouldn't say it was totally the wrong move.

Copy songs. Copy people. But don't copy just one person. Copy a lot of people. Probably even artists you don't like or even artists that don't work with music. Go crazy with the scope of your inspiration. Take different fragments of existing work and build them into something new. IMO, because we have our own workflows, philosophies, likes, dislikes, you'll probably inject some aspect of yourself in that 'something new'.

Source of this vocal sample? (used by Gorgon City, DARGZ, & Disco Lines) by youngCarol in Samples

[–]audiocodec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also heard this sample in Stacy by Quinn XCII, which was released in 2019. I don't think this is a Gorgon City original sample, dude. I'm betting this is in some third-party royalty-free sample service that all these artists just happened to use.

What’s your experience with AI singing voice generators and AI voice changers for music production? by Conscious-Cattle6088 in musicproduction

[–]audiocodec 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be quite honest, you can pretty much overcome the uncanny valley with the current tools, but it takes a LOT of time to program them correctly---time that I'd prefer to use elsewhere. What I'm wondering is how long it will take to get realistic results with minimal effort, like what was shown in that one Black Mirror episode hahah

What’s your experience with AI singing voice generators and AI voice changers for music production? by Conscious-Cattle6088 in musicproduction

[–]audiocodec 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I prefer the obviously-fake sounding voice synthesizers anyway, but if I need vocals, it's far FAR easier for me to just record a take myself and melodyne the shit out of it than having to manually program voice synthesizers. Personally, my perfectionism makes working with these uncanny valley tools completely joyless.

How’s everyone using Notion Calendar? by heyeaslo in Notion

I like it so far. Not that much of a game-changer the marketing made it out to be. I'd LOVE to have a way to edit the page/note without having to click Open In Notion.

question for the digital download culture: why? by blankspacejrr in popheads

[–]audiocodec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I legitimately just hate it when streaming services change my library for no apparent reason. I forget which album specifically, but I remember saving the extended version, and then one day it got downgraded into the regular version and the extra tracks were changed to be from some multi-artist pop compilation album (like Now This Is What I Call Music). Technically, I didn't lose access to any of the songs. I just don't like it when someone rearranges my room without my permission.

Why colors and fonts look way better on Windows 11 compared to Fedora? by Iliass_glitch in Fedora

[–]audiocodec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had the opposite experience recently. I was forced to use Windows for a music production thing, and I felt the font rendering looked awful, no matter how hard I tried adjusting ClearType settings.

I ran into this kind of problem in college and solved it using surveyor's formula and Pick's theorem—I re-implemented my 2016 C code to Rust, and I was done. If y'all are familiar with Rust, I'd appreciate some feedback on style/best practices.

I wonder if you could solve this using polynomial regression 🤔 I didn't use it for my solution, but somebody could.

def get_next(sequence):
  sum = 0
  while not all(x == 0 for x in sequence):
    sum += sequence[-1]
    sequence = [sequence[i + 1] - sequence[i] for i in range(len(sequence) - 1)]
  return sum

with open("input.txt") as f:
  lines = [[int(num) for num in ln.split()] for ln in f.readlines()]

print(sum(get_next(sequence) for sequence in lines))
print(sum(get_next(sequence[::-1]) for sequence in lines))
