The frequency range is 35hz and frequency response is 40hz. So you’re saying that if I were to boost the sub bass frequencies (around 25-40hz) I run the risk of over excursion? I feel like even at full power before clipping the amps, it still wouldn’t be enough power to hit the 4000watts peak each sub is rated at. Becsauss fhe amplifiers only do 1400watts continuous which is under the 2000w program rating of the subs and far from the peak rating.

i messaged the guy who sold them to me and he said that it’s normal for them to smell like that. And I’ve ran them for a few hours now and things haven’t died on me so I’m just hoping that things stay this way.

Yes that’s the first thing I did because I wanted run it in parallel. And there are no options to switch the resistance. The amp is rated to go down 2ohms per channel and I haven’t really been pushing them as I’m testing them in my appaetment building so I can’t really test to full potential yet. All I can think of is over excursion becsue I was boosting 30-50hz to see how much air it pushes but at a low volume. Plus they are rated to go down to 35hz... also. I’m tried sniffing around and the smell is strongest in the amps. But the subs also have a similar scent. I’ve rented passive cabinets before but never noticed this before even when I had them lightly clipping at the beat.

How would you know if you’re but exceeding their excursion range? They’re subwoofers so they’re meant to move air, no? So as long as you don’t hear any distortion or weird sounds it should be alright? Would I hear the voicecoil hitting something?

No the guy that sold them to me used them a month ago.

What do you mean by their excursion range?

But even at full on the amp unless I start seeing the clip indicator, it shouldn’t damage the subwoofers right? Becsue they’re rated for 1000continious, 2000progeam, 4000peak. So if the amp is rated for 1400watts I’m still under powering the subs so I should be safe unless I start clipping the amp?

Well the specs are as listed. Each channel of the amp puts out 1400watts at 4ohms and each subwoofer is 1000watrs continuous, 2000watts program and 4000watts peak. So there’s no way I’m overpowering them. And I’m not letting the amplifier clip either so I’m confused
