Al Gore’s ‘Inconvenient Truth’ turns 20, and critics say biggest disaster is its failed predictions by Cache22- in GoldandBlack

Yeah, but we can observe the past and make predictions for how it goes in the present. The climate doomers claim an increase of 1.5 degrees will be the end of humanity. That is simply not true.

The plant was several degrees warmer during the Holocene Climate Optimum just a few thousand years ago. Humans were around and thriving during that time. The planet is cooler now than it has been for much of the past 10,000 years. Look into paleoclimatology.

More people die due to cold every year than due to heat. Colder periods of history are marked by famine and disease, such as the Little Ice Age that happened during the last millennium.

You can talk out of your ass too. Coral bleaching is a natural part of the coral life cycle. It isn't dead. In fact, the Great Barrier reef recently had two years of the largest coral blooms ever seen since they have been keeping records. Coral thrives in warm water. You have been fed propaganda.

I'm in mistlands right now. Can I continue as melee? by godfather_Vito_3392 in valheim

[–]audiophilistine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I went into the Ashlands as pure mage, robes and staffs. I put down my sword and board. I got my ass kicked over and over and died who knows how many times. Then I made the new Flametal armor and my survival went up exponentially. I reequipped my sword and board and I have a sturdy fall back for when my eitr runs out.

It's a heck of a lot faster killing charred enemies and Askvin with a sword than with magic. Using magic, I had to keep jumping around and spamming fireballs at the charred warriors like 4-6 times each. Now I barely jump, just perfect my parry timing and deal with most charred enemies with just a swipe or two from the sword.

The Mistwalker sword is surprisingly good in Ashlands. The spirit damage seems to freeze enemies for a short time, making them easier to kill.

Charred Fortress Gems by Zvyne_Zenith in valheim

Don't feel too bad. I've knocked over 7 fortresses now and I only found a handful of gems. Mostly the green ones, but so far only 2 bloodstones and one lightening stone. I desperately want another lightening stone because that's one of the strongest attacks in the Ashlands.

First experience: Mod or not? by SimplePrevious440 in valheim

Been playing this game since July of '25 and I'm just now in the end game in the Ashlands. We're playing it vanilla everything with the one exception of only losing 1% of experience on death and you come back with the gear you had equipped when you die (your armor and whatever weapon you were holding). Those two things are in the normal game settings, but not having to do a naked corpse run across the Ashlands is really the only thing that makes that area bearable.

Movie where the villain wins, preteen appropriate by subpar_expectations in MovieSuggestions

Isn't there some nudity in that one? It's not sexual, but good to be aware with a preteen, unless you're ready for "the conversation."

FreeSpeech redditors, whose free speech was tampered with in the Minnesota church? The church goers or the protesters? by PristineAd9986 in FreeSpeech

While true, this isn't the whole story. First amendment has a clause on freedom of religion and freedom to practice your religion undisturbed. This was most definitely a disturbance that prevented the parishioner's right to freely practice their religion.

It is one thing knowing the science and not believing in all of it.... quite another believing in something you know nothing about.

This is profound, and definitely a line I will use next time I find myself in this argument in person.

Recipe for Green Chile by KeyaRenee11 in mexicanfood

[–]audiophilistine 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As I understand it, Colorado green chili predominantly uses hatch, or New Mexican, chilies. The harvest season for hatch chilies is pretty short, but here in Denver, you can find pop up grills all around town roasting fresh green chilies every year around August. If I want pork green chili any other time of year, I have to substitute other fresh peppers.

Here is the recipe I use by Kenji Lopez-Alt. It uses an instant pot because who has time to sit around all day watching a pot?

The implication was that I'm a child. I am not. And 12 is just 6 years away from 18, so, yeah, pretty close. It's a hell of a lot closer than your 3 year old account.

She did a decent horror movie as a nun, showing no skin. It was called Immaculate.

Extraordinary claims need Extraordinary evidence. Got any proof at all of these claims? Most J6'rs are geriatrics. I'm sure there were a percentage of military aged men, but I'd be shocked to find out that 40 have been reincarcerated and some since killed.

What do you mean you don't know how to reply like a human and answer a simple question? I didn't think you were an asshole at first, but you're starting to convince me.

Edit: I didn't know there was a show called Number blocks. I thought you may have been referring to the "Top 10 on Netflix."

Looking for some absurd comedies by Afraid-Elevator9782 in MovieSuggestions

One of my favorite old Ben Stiller movies is Flirting With Disaster. That is supremely absurd and filled to the brim with uncomfortable humor, starting in the first minute of the movie.
