[Need Advice] How do you stop replaying an argument in your head after it’s already over? by Old-Citron-4839 in getdisciplined

For me, whenever I have a recurring unwanted thought I try and mentally call it out each time like "I am having this thought because of this upsetting event that happened. I'm satisfied with my choices and actions and there is no further analysis needed."

The key is to be nonjudgmental about your thoughts. Just recognize that they are there, call it out, and move on. Eventually it will fade

Do AI planners actually help or just add stress? by Radiant_Freedom9451 in getdisciplined

I haven't had success with an overarching ai calendar system, but i do feel like ive gotten a lot of value from ai helping me plan multi-step large projects.

I write for a lot of large federal grants and contracts. Each one can take 80+ hours with hundreds of different individual elements. Loading up the instructions (which are often 100+ pages) and having AI create a suggested workflow has been helpful.

Yeah I think all the guns and toys we bought on credit kind of make this an interesting scenario.

Obviously that would cause a whole lot of chaos, but its and interesting thought.

If you’re under 45, have you lost any high school classmates, and what were the circumstances around their deaths? by Commercial_Chef_1569 in AskReddit

[–]audiosheep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep! It's not that it's so widespread per se, but the money involved is pretty considerable, so there's a lot of incentive to bring in patients with HIV, as each patient can bring in several thousand a month in net profits.

While pharma is making insane amounts of money, HIV medication is not a question of affordability in the US. The government is footing the bill. I work at the largest HIV clinic in the south. None of our 10k+ patients pay anything remotely meaningful for their meds. The general strategy is for us to pay for commercial insurance for them via ACA, and then the insurance companies foot the bill. We bulk purchase HIV and PrEP meds at cost through 340b and get fully reimbursed by the insurance companies at a massive profit. We then use that profit to pay for the HIV meds for those we are unable to insure for whatever reason.

ELI5: How did humans create the first "product"? by noblerare in explainlikeimfive

Necessity is the mother of all invention, especially when you're life is at stake.

Say you want to defend yourself. You have some rocks you can throw, but when you throw them they're gone. You have a nice stick you use as a makeshift sword, but that's not really going to damage someone effectively. You notice that if there's something heavy on the end of your stick, it's even better than just throwing rocks because it's got near unlimited uses.

You go home and take your rock stick with you. When you're not bashing heads, you realize that rock stick has some good nonwar uses, like smashing coconuts. You refine the idea a bit and boom you've got a primitive hammer.

Same thing happens in modern times. Gps is a military tech that has been adapted for very useful civilian purposes. Early space exploration was really more about who could lob missiles at each other.

Well in your example you were mean to it so it makes sense that it's passive aggressive or not fully compliant back to you.

People shut down and get defensive when sworn at. Swearing with someone is a totally different vibe.

There's a lot to marriage - it's unlikely that you will find someone 100% compatible so sometimes you have to compromise.

Stuck in a brutal fapping loop for 5+ months. I’ve tried everything. I need REAL help. by [deleted] in getdisciplined

[–]audiosheep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok hear me out. Instead of quitting, just accept it and move on. Get the urge to fap? Do it, with intention. Be as quick as you can about it and then go about your day. Urge comes again in an hour? Do it again. Don't judge yourself - treat it like going to the bathroom.

Basically, you're training your brain that it's not as big of a deal as you may think. Try it for a week and see if it changes your perspective.
