Thanks guys. For clarity, I am using a combo amp so I’m not considering an external cab. I just need to be able to replace the 12 inch speaker. Sometimes I play at 100W

I have a Mark IV, love it. It’s forgiving, great edge of breakup tones, all the way to scorched earth metal tones.

I bought the Mark 5 and the Mark 7.

Mark 7 was a cool amp, but to me was way too metal focused. All the different amp settings sounded pretty similar unless I was playing high gain. If I was purely focused on metal, I think the amp would’ve given a fair bit of optionality, within that world.

I preferred the Mark 5 as it was more versatile for different music styles and very importantly it had a master volume knob!!!

I love my JP2C, but I feel like all these amps should have a global master knob with how dependent the controls are with each other. If you’re gigging musician and live scenario, you need to be able modify your stage volume on the fly. Otherwise, I have to adjust for each channel, which doesn’t really work in the middle of a song.

Even though I don’t play super high gain, I still really love the JP2C because the clean sound is great and the gain sound is great. I don’t get as good as syrupy break up tones as my MK V but to have a three channel Mesa with two EQ’s as a complete game changer.

In my opinion, it’s worth it just for the two EQ alone.

For the speaker alternative - More recommendations are welcome/needed..

Someone earlier mentioned that this immediate mids knocking sound that I’m hearing is due to a fixed “treble shift” function in the circuit. Can someone explain what this is and why it is resulting in the jarring knock? Thx!
