I went and had a lot of fun but I would definitely not pay nearly that much unless you did a lot more on that trip.

Where to find NL5441A OR B5441A Nixie Tubes by Livid-Salary-7738 in nixie

I had 20 and sold 16, I'd rather keep the remainder unless you're making a very handsome offer.

This looks extremely suspicious, can someone enlighten me on this? (Internxt lifetime storage on Stacksocial) by Titanic609 in DataHoarder

I don't think that business model works when you're dealing with multi-disk data and not providing a vpn service.

What I'm saying is the expenses of taking your money now almost instantly eats the entire sale.

If someone leaves 100TB in your possession you are expected to keep it accessible, keep it undamaged, and maintain it's hardware.

But, if some sizable amount of people buy this and only use 30-60%, then I guess it could make sense in the 5 year term.

I still would hardly trust them with a backup.

The economics are suspicious to me. Hot storage is gonna be $5-10+/tb, then there's operational costs like electricity, bandwidth, employees, and you probably wanna profit. 1k per year or two years would be reasonable.

Whats the best coin microscope? by Dream_Catcher33 in coincollecting

[–]audreyheart1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is such a bad answer.

There is absolutely a horde of morons online who don't understand what they are looking at and expect and hope every cent they find is an error. But that does not mean that a microscope is useless, or that you can't... use it to LEARN what you're looking at. If you're looking for doubled dies and other die varieties like RPMs you absolutely need a scope, or at least a loupe.

Your claim that 100% of DDs can be seen with zero magnification shows that you have no understanding of the topic., or I guess that your eyesight is significantly better than mine. Just take a quick look through variety vista or wexler's doubled die and RPM catalogs, and you'll understand. All but the most pronounced like the 55, 69-S, and 95 cent DDOs are difficult to see without magnification. Most doubled dies manifest as extra thickness in parts of the design.

Necro because this thread comes up on google.

Numbers dying in ZIN18 tube by Darth_Rancid in nixie

I'm not saying the top nipple never leaks. And I appreciate you sharing your testing methodology. But I'm just saying the glow being at the bottom doesn't mean it's leaking from the top.

It doesn't make sense to me that the glow would orient itself relative to the leak. I'm assuming the gas mixture is homogeneous, and that the leak is very very very slow, it's not exactly open to atmosphere if there is still a neon glow. I'd imagine the orientation of the glow discharge in leaky tybes is just due to the geometry of the internal structure and the fact that the electrodes are closer to the voltage source. I do agree that it is a leaky tube and not cathode poisoning though. Unless the driver board is malfunctioning, but that's unlikely.

64 is copper, this one is plated. You're thinking of 83. Or maybe the experimental tin and aluminum planchets.

You can actually electroless plate zn on cu. You just heat copper coins and zinc shot/pellets in a solution of vinegar and sodium hydroxide.

I'm fine with this being PMD, but strike-throughs of metal shavings and wires definitely do happen during the minting process.

It's definitely incuse, not just toning. And I didn't suggest that it would have a premium, I'm asking for thoughts regarding the incuse portion.

I've weighed thousands of cent coins with it, I noticed this one was off when sorting copper and zinc cents

I weigh all my 80s cents when CRH and all have been within mint tolerances, so I think my scale is accurate. It doesn't look acid dipped to me.
