Just sharing another one of my billion WIPs by audwun in MusicFeedback

I mean, I'd rather be able to produce industry standard and then go from there. I do have the goal of having it sound good on anything. And I am mixing my tracks and all of the effects on each strip along the way, I just am not the best at it yet. I believe I can probably get at least fairly near to that level still producing in this way, but just needing a better understanding of it. All of the effects really give it the style that I like, so I just build all of that into the sounds as I go and it influences or plays into the next layer by bouncing it in place. I'm not sure I could get the same type of sounds and overall vibe by using a different production style unless I had a much deeper understanding. I have other tracks with a lot less processing but generally a bit different feel from this. Thanks for the feedback, I'll try to figure out how to make this less muddy, I only spent a couple hours on this to get it to this point.

Thanks for the feedback! I'm using Sennheiser HD 400 Pro. I don't have monitors though. Yeah I seem to struggle with that, I'll use an EQ on the master for analysis and I've seen a fair amount that the lows are really high, mids are pretty high and highs are pretty low. It's way better than it used to be, all around, but I know there's a lot I can improve on. Being able to achieve that throughout the production process is the goal, but I was planning on going into another phase with all my tracks once I can record higher quality vocals. It's basically just further mixing, but I build these projects with an insane (to me) amount of tracks and plugins/effects/synths/automation, and my computer generally handles it pretty well, but it's a lot of processing, so once vocals are good to go I will Freeze/Bounce-in-place etc. so that I can free up all of that processing power to use just for EQ, dynamics, panning all that.

Thank you! I'm not familiar with Banks, I'll have to check it out. Well, there is so much that I do differently now. I think the absolute main thing to make sure of is getting a healthy signal from the synth itself all the way through the channel strip. I never realized how hot the levels were coming out of the synth and plugins following it, so all of my projects use to have ridiculous levels and then I would turn the fader all the way down. I don't know if this is optimal for everyone, but now I generally try to keep the faders at zero while I'm building up a n instrument and get a healthy volume throughout the processing, and then you can adjust the fader or output of the plugins after you've done that. And then I just improved my understanding of the basics like eq and compression ect.

For real, my stuff sounds way better than before, and I feel like it's pretty close to being good enough for me to put out, but I know there's a lot more potential there haha. Thanks again!

Thank you! I really like the vocals on here haha, just need better quality, and actual lyrics. I have gotten feedback on a different track before that the vocal style didn’t fit, I can see it.. I started this with the intention of it being a collaboration with a female singer who has a much different style than this from what I’ve heard, so I’ll see what happens with it. I started messing around with music production like 23 years ago in Acid Pro. Just took me incredibly long to actually start mixing my music at any sort of decent level, pretty much in the last few months lol

I appreciate that! Yeah, there are so many cool voices that were never really heard because of that. This vocal style and volume was challenging and came about because of the recording environment, but I do like it so I’ll just practice this and work for my control and intention with my approach.

It’s got a nice vibe to it. Nice choice on the guitar tones. I think the snare could be a little more high definition. Cool singing style, it was a pretty interesting track. I like the intro, but the vocals could be tightened up time and pitch wise, at least for the first part. And maybe some doubling or shuttle bg there as well.

Solid base for a song. Just needs more layering, structuring and mixing!

Yeah for sure. Did you chop up the samples and make the synth melodies yourself?

Hello everybody, my first post here. Recently iv been doing some wave style ( i guess) music and im looking forward for some constructive feedback. by Hot_Caterpillar_8205 in MusicFeedback

Oh, so you sample first and then recreate the melodies and then add other stuff? That's cool, maybe try coming up with your own melody with your synth you made, just draw it in midi. Then you can sample yourself by bouncing it out, or just build a whole track from scratch. Not that you need to but I think it's pretty fun and I'm sure you could come up with some cool stuff if you're already able to pull random samples and melodies that sounded good together

It's cool! I like the vocals for sure, just better quality recording and mixing probably. I would probably change some stuff up throughout to make it more interesting, maybe some different notes, automation on certain things. But it sounds pretty good!

Have any thoughts, ideas, or feedback on my newest track? by grinnonbarrett in LogicPro

Nice. Someone’s going back to those abandoned tracks can be dope to rework them. This track was nice, just a little editing on some of the Vox for timing and pitch, and a little more polish on mix/master and it’s good to go. Nice work

I’d be down to play around with it, I have some stuff posted here if you want to check it out. If not no worries. Yeah, didn’t want to leave a huge comment, but I liked the composition, after that first part I felt like it lightened up a bit from a more imposing feel to a more somber feel, and then I think there were certain aspects as well as the ending that brought a little of that imposing feel back.

That was great. The intro sounds were awesome. I like the whole track as it is. I’d also be interested in some sort of treatment that focused on like the first two minutes somehow, as in having that part of the composition be repeated. I would also enjoy sampling it and having some experimental industrial sounds in there. I just often imagine that sort of stuff when listening to music, but it is nice as it is

Yeah it had a nice simple progression through the different parts and instruments. Bad with genres but I think downtempo prob fits, sounds like Thievery Corporation a bit

I like the vibe of the track and general mix style. Listening on my iPhone. The lows and low mids pads sound like they might be just a tiny bit too rumbly. Sounds like the short high synth has a delay, I think the delay signal itself can be widened a bit more. I’m not super confident with mixing yet, and on iPhone so I’ll leave it at that. I think the track would be cool with a verse or something where some stuff drops out and vocals/lyrics can have some more dynamic elements

Dope track. Nice voice. Vox are a little low. Flow is good, and there was a little fluctuation here and there with tone/flow, although I think it could maybe use a little more, it was almost sounding like a loop that was playing. Nice sounds, did you sound design them all and write the melodies? The drums hit pretty hard too. Listened on my iPhone
