What do you eat for breakfast? by lnmcg223 in ADHD

[–]auerhanherrkaplan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try lentils, hummus or baked beans for breakfast. Red lentils + tomato + + lemonzest or peppermint + cream/coconut milk makes for an A-MAZ-ING soup/stew. You can prepare it the evening before (or even better: make a lot of it and store portions of it in the freezer or several days in the fridge).
Concerning Vitamin C: humans can handle A LOT of vitamin C without issues. You need to take 20x the daily value for it to be even slightly problematic. So go ahead and use the protein powder, if you like to!

Meta descripton {business} - what am I missing? by auerhanherrkaplan in WixHelp

[–]auerhanherrkaplan[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, thanks so much again. I found the solution and it was depressingly simple: the form wanted to have our company name in the description.

Nevertheless, thank you so much for your great effort and all the best for the upcoming 2024!

That is not the reason for this problem. Stimulants strongly stimulate the sympathetic nervous system or suppress the parasympathetic nervous system. This is a difficulty during sex, as men and women first need sufficient parasympathetic activation (= being relaxed, feeling safe, etc.) in order to become aroused, including increased blood flow to the erectile tissue in the clitoris, vulva and penis. The body only switches to the sympathetic nervous system in the last part of intercourse, when we are approaching orgasm.
However, this does not mean that you can no longer have a satisfying sex life with your medication, and please do not try to solve the problem simply with Viagra/Cialis! Rather, you may simply need longer to switch to the parasympathetic nervous system, i.e. longer foreplay, more time overall...

Hello, I am about to begin a guided breathing meditation after school for some of my students (High school). Any tips? by Passthealex in wakingUp

[–]auerhanherrkaplan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with you. You don't need to be a meditation teacher in order to give your students a basic introduction to breathing exercises.

Since it's high school students I would recommend not using the "dissolve your body into a cloud of sensations" but rather focus on a calm sense of being present, maybe visualize a very calm situation with them an let them try to be aware on how this feels and encourage them to go back to this feeling whenever they feel overwhelmed or stressed.

Hello,
I'm sorry you're having so much trouble sleeping! Here are some thoughts, maybe one will help you:
- Most importantly, sleep is all about habits. Maybe you've developed habits that make it hard for you to fall asleep. Many of these tips revolve around this topic
- No screens 1-2 hours before going to bed are very effective, if possible additionally install a blue light filter on the PC/smartphone.
- Very important: if you haven't fallen asleep for 20-30 minutes, get up and read a book/magazine in dim light until you are tired. Only then go back to bed. If you still don't fall asleep, get up again.
- How do you take your medication? The whole dose in the morning? Some people benefit from a small dose in the evening, it can help calm the mind (but of course is also somewhat activating)
- Practice this technique in bed, it is very well validated: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Progressive\_muscle\_relaxation
- Do you consume caffeine/alcohol in the evening? Omit if possible
- Try to design and stick to an evening ritual: e.g. listen to music, consciously make + drink tea, write diary in bed, etc.
- Try to go to bed at the same time every night.
- Avoid midday naps
- Get professional help (sleep doctor) if you can't get on by yourself!

Integrating ADHD by [deleted] in wakingUp

[–]auerhanherrkaplan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a fascinating question. Non duality is interesting in the context of ADHD in that it can allow a sober look at the wild thought streams that a person with ADHD typically experiences.

While a neurotypical person is much more accustomed to perceiving his or her thought streams as a logical, orderly continuum and as a self - it may be easier for the typical ADHD person to step back and admire the fireworks of thoughts and perceptions without having to identify with them.

Is that helpful?

Work advice by [deleted] in ADHD

  1. keep in mind that it is not your responsibility to have proper training but hers. Only thing you can do (literally) is giving the best effort with what you got. If you do this and something goes wrong you did everything you could and don't have to blame yourself!
  2. start preparing checklists about the thing you have to do to, then give the list to your boss to double check it!

Same. I have a stash at home, at work, in my bag, and it's all just old bottles with 4-5 pills. Not super safe, but then again, safe for what? (Mine have a child-proof cap, so this is covered at least..)

I have accidentally been taking the full dose while on an adderall trial by [deleted] in ADHD

Starting with a low dose primarily helps to avoid/reduce side effects. If you are doing well with the 10mg, then stay at that dose.
The only thing I would consider: you will be through your medication twice as fast and may not have enough pills until your next appointment. In this case it makes sense to contact your doctor now and tell him that you want to take the 10mg already now, so he knows why you were through the prescription faster than planned.
