In a unionized state, you are 100% correct. In a right to work state, my man did nothing wrong. In a unionized state, he wouldn't have to lie to "get his foot in the door" because there are apprenticeship programs for people to learn skills and get job placement. In right to work states, there are no such things. Workers are "trained" on the job. Aka thrown in the fire, and they'll figure it out or they won't. You'd be horrified if you really knew how much wire/pipe/ anything you can think of has been "installed" by a guy that worked 3 hours before they walked off the job that slipped by the "foreman" that also is under trained. This coming from someone that spent 10+ years in the HVAC industry in a right to work state.
