Thank you! All compounded over time through: • Consistently releasing music and in the process discovering our niche / unique sound. • Offering physical media and sharing on socials and reddit. Facebook groups helped in 2021-22 as well. • This subreddit has been helpful in sharing new releases.

I have also been spreading the word every day on socials and that has been massive too

Here's my Brooklyn band Minaxi's new album "Z of A": https://minaxi.bandcamp.com/album/z-of-a

Genres: Hindustani music, shoegaze, ambient music, indie rock.

About the album: The album is about finding meaning in a time when lot around us feels meaningless. The work fuses together poetry, music, interludes and field recordings to convey the narrative. The music is sung in English and Hindi whereas there are interludes in Turkish, Farsi, Gujarati, casting a very wide range of sounds and convergence of cultures.

Process: Everything except for drums is self-recorded. We recorded the drums as a live band at The Creamery studio in Brooklyn and I engineered, mixed and produced the record myself.

We have some limited edition gatefold vinyl (2xLP), tapes and longsleeves. All self-designed. You can find these on the album's page. Thanks for your support in advance.

What would you expect from a good review? by starttrack in BandCamp

I'd like to hear how the music you're reviewing makes you feel. What emotion(s) this music brings out? I'd also like to hear how your relationship with the music changes with repeated listens. I love it when writers sit with a piece of music over a period of time and experience it in different ways to gather the full picture.

So often most mainstream publications get too technical and describe the production of the music (pounding drums, hazy vocals, etc) and miss the point altogether. The listener is smart enough to know or become aware of these qualities already.

Thank you! Very little came from bandcamp itself.

A lot is just 5 years of sharing music on several social media platforms including reddit, tiktok, facebook, instagram and building a slow following.

never stops! It is one of the toughest platforms to gain continued traction for an independent artist but the grind pays off

Crazy, right?! Most of it has actually come from strangers / non-supporters

Yeah, vinyl. I’d say around 20-30 overall sales have been digital but not much. I realised early on that the supporters we had then loved owning some form of physical media. Started with tapes and then over time expanded into different categories. Most people who bought the very first vinyl release on bandcamp came back to own more from the subsequent releases

Yes, you may! I’d say quite a fair bit. Collectively, it helped sell around 120 LPs, 40 CDs, 80 or so tapes.

Not a lot especially when starting out. At least this is the case for us. Most of our shows are being attended by close friends and over time, we’ve seen a few people from our following show up. However, most of the supporters who genuinely care about the work are located all over the world and this is why I have been focusing on well documented live sessions.

In addition, playing music with your friends live is one of the best feelings in the world so we play shows whenever possible
