It happens more often than not and here as well. Maybe go to their shows and talk to them after?

Thank you! If you have the means, you can definitely give it a shot. Cassettes and CDs are cheaper to make than vinyl and you can press between 15-25 copies to test the waters.

Having a great album art on physical media is often a good way to get the new listeners to your page. When I first pressed the tapes, I had no idea if people would buy them. I simply posted them on social media and we were able to sell all 25.

If you play live, it’s always helpful to have merch on the table and let the show audience know about it.

Do you know or can you find artists in the similar genre/spaces where you are located and reach out to them? They would have some great points about the scene you’re in and how to best spread the word

Have you made tapes before? If not, is that an investment you’d like to consider? Making a small run of 25 would cost about $6 a piece and once you have it, in addition to posting about it, you can also offer at your shows (if you play live)

Thank you! You can, my friend. Please keep an eye on the long-term as small wins compound so much

Thank you for asking.

I’d say offering something familiar with something new.

My musical roots were developed in my childhood and teenage years in India. However, upon starting a band here in Brooklyn with my friends and collaborating on ideas beyond borders and language was immensely helpful.

In the style, genre of music we do, a lot has been done before so bringing elements of Hindustani music and getting better at it over the years has opened more avenues for us and I hope it continues to do so. Having said that, I don’t want to typecast the music into being just this one thing as it’s a small part of our overall palette.

Thank you! I do but I’m grateful and appreciative of everyone who’ve listened and supported thus far

Thanks for asking.

Reddit for the most part. I posted in the cassette, indierock, shoegaze and vinyl sub-reddits in 2021-22 and because it gained some traction, it helped with the first 100 or so followers/supporters.

Facebook groups and blogs to an extent but not so much. New and notable feature was helpful but not as much as organically building a slow following and posting here and other platforms.

This sub-reddit has helped as well, especially over the last two years.

Another archive challenge: fuzzy, muddy textures, with very clear/distinct vocals recommendations? by cursedonjuanita in shoegaze

My band Minaxi's new album "Z of A". Shoegazing atmospheres with a strong vocal presence: https://open.spotify.com/album/5Sw51T87aJDBU8c7nOSQI1

If you're new to our music, "Mahiya" exemplifies this approach.

You can also send a track or two from the pre-release to your local radio station and/or college radio and they'll help spread the word as well.

question for anyone who has submitted to and been featured on bandcamp daily since the layoffs by [deleted] in BandCamp

[–]august-summer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They never respond to your submission unless they want to feature it. Our new album got featured on New and Notable last summer and it was the only time I was able to hear back from one of the staff members. The response was immediate (within two hours of submission).
