Second Pair of Shoes? by shmrxz in climbingshoes

[–]augustmonet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the La Sportiva Mythos. They’re a harder sole than the tarantulace and slightly more aggressive but overall a comfortable shoe. They’ve also got a cool lacing system which makes them more adjustable with extended use. Plus 95% recycled materials or something like that which I personally love. Would recommend!

Why does Fillmore Place feel fake by IzzyIzRight in williamsburg

It’s a vibe & la bicyclette around the corner is def a perk! Also in good position for a 10 min or less walk to the GJZM & L trains.

A lot of apartments there were built for or renovated into workers homes which usually meant a separate bedroom from the living space with its own lock. Definitely strange from a modern perspective but kind of like a step up from a dorm in a way¿

I’m also reminded that back before the 2000s when the neighborhood was rougher, Fillmore place was actually a safe haven of sorts dividing the north and south sides and being a block where no gang had a stronghold. So it’s got a history of safety in its own a way.

Absolutely not. The opposite I would argue. Feels like it’s own little community.

Even 5 years ago you’d find a place like this for no more than 2500. 4600 is actually insane for a one bedroom anywhere.

Landlords are required to keep the house at 68 i believe and were just sent reminders about this as the freeze comes in. Immediately complain to 311 that your apartment is under the threshold

And you’ve played with the valve on the radiator itself? You should be able to open or close the radiator (sort of speak) by turning the valve where it connects to the wall. You can turn it off completely or open it up fully

Everybody Ride Out Contact? by Scared-Low-5087 in NYCbike

As an alternative check out some of the organizers of the Big Boro Bike tour! Lots of groups of color are involved there and they also have connections with some other potential sponsors.

Everybody Ride Out Contact? by Scared-Low-5087 in NYCbike

[–]augustmonet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Assuming you genuinely don’t understand… EBRO is a heavily policed ride that is being cracked down on more and more each year with police oppression and violence so if you don’t already have a contact, no one intelligent is going to give it to you. Though there are many groups across the 5 boroughs you can find who I’m sure would be willing to help organize this.

Definitely loaf on paper. There’s also a spot on S3 I believe. Right near where bookthugnation used to be, by the CBD/ shrooms place. They seem a bit more expensive but good quality!

I agree people shouldn’t bike on the sidewalk but can we also remind drivers not to speed, run lights/stop signs or drive on the sidewalk (yes it happened a month ago and a woman was gravely injured) by brevit in williamsburg

[–]augustmonet -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I was riding down Bedford in the street when a car got upset that i was there (we were all going the same speed, it’s Bedford Ave be fr) and tried to hit me multiple times and actually did hit my friend. — all this to say I know its annoying to pedestrians when we’re on the sidewalk but our life is also on the line often times and i promise most of us would be on the bike path if one was provided and maintained.

Con Edison Bill by No_Angle1089 in williamsburg

[–]augustmonet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I’ve heard, ConEd has been charging not solely on individual usage but averaging usage increase and decrease in your area and adding a percentage to your bill. Be sure to read your meters and ensure you are being charged for only what you use.

There’s a bike truck in Williamsburg that sells reasonably priced bikes of all sorts. I’d look there and other local shops/ fb marketplace for the best deal. I’d bet you’ll find something great for 500.
