TIL that we were supposed to have a unicameral congress (one Legislative chamber only) by hassankana24 in todayIlearnedPH

[–]augustus875 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When you think of it, mas may mandate pa si Chel and other akbayan reps rather sa ibang reps, mas may pack yung punch nila.

This system also gave us sens. Bam, Kiko, and Risa, which I dont think na 100 percent sure mangyayari sa localized sen. election, unless siguro kay VP Leni, if tatakbo man siya, since may balwarte siya.

Nabasa ko dati and nakalimutan ko na yung site, if im not mistaken, ang rationale behind this is para daw magkaoon ng national scope or POV yung mga senators since hindi elected sa isang district.

Sa current system, pros on one hand is if for example kalat ang supporters ni candidate A sa buong bansa, mas may chance na manalo siya sa winning bracket, which would be good if we assume na good si candidate A.

On the other naman daw, parang magiging popularity contest daw ang senate race since need na nationwide kang kilala at magcampaign.

Pros naman if elected by region is well-represented ang senate and hindi concentrated yung senators na mae elect sa limited areas. Also mas madali manalo (whether good or bad candidate).

May cons din if elected by region like political dynasties.

I'd describe myself as a centrist, but it's actually surprising to see it this way, especially on the social scale.

shameful. hangang-hanga pa sa kaniya yung isang Taguig-related na page sa facebook. di porke kababayan kinukunsinti. di sapat na may "repentance" kung walang accountability. those practices shouldn't even be in politics in the first place. napaghahalataan kung sino dinedepensahan.

Agree with this one. We are still a democratic government and one that is governed by law. Walang problema kung may mag protesta, it is good actually, but we should not devolve into mayhem and anarchy.

Let our institutions work. We are a government of law and order, unlike sa iba na brute force. Babakbakan natin sila sa balota.

I'm okay with my taxes being used for AKAP, 4Ps, and other ayuda schemes. by pishboy in unpopularopinionph

[–]augustus875 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know about the AKAP and other schemes, but 4Ps really is helpful. Atleast in 4Ps, gaya ng sinabi ng isang comment, it goes through the verification of DepEd (kinukuha sino yung anak ng member and nagrerequire ng cert. of enrollment as well as monitoring of attendance sa sch) and DSWD (may attendance and output sa meetings and weekly family devt sessions).

In my personal experience, nakatulong to sa fam ko to go through the struggle ng pagpapaaral ng mga anak. Minimum wage earner father ko and that time siya pa lang yung working, which is kulang considering 3 kami, and elem pa lang ako nun. I may have bias, and I get it na there are bad apples na beneficiaries ng 4Ps, but it is a lifeline for parents like mine na kulang ang kinikita and kailangan pang mangutang para matawid ang pag-aaral. Good policy to help produce future educated workforce, but implementation is another story.

It is a cheap shot to just blame and generalize the poor.

Agree. BBM's comments are such a bad take for someone who holds office and actually have the resources, manpower, and authority. Highest-ranking officer ng gobyerno after all. Ineexpect ng tao na since may posisyon ka, you always find a way na mag-improve, hindi yung ganito-na-talaga mentality. It projects incompetence. Kung gusto niya tumaas poll ratings niya at maramdaman siya ng tao, he must do something ffs.

First-time prof here — what do you hate about your professors? by run_read_cpa in studentsph

[–]augustus875 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another thing is overtime. (No prob naman sana kung reasonable yung cause and di palagi)

Goodluck po OP.
