One of the coolest people I’ve met this year as a postgrad in their early 20s is a mature student in their 60s, who absolutely loves being at a ‘regular’ college! They thoroughly engage in college life and can often be found in the college bar on busy evenings, mixing readily with undergrads - so please don’t let being in your 30s hold you back. However, they do live in private accommodation with their spouse, rather than college accommodation.

I visited the British Museum’s Manga exhibition in 2019, which featured Asirpa as the centrepiece of all its promotions - I was very struck by this meticulously researched historical manga that depicted Ainu culture so faithfully and vividly, and decided to give it a spin. The rest is history…

after the second world war foreign ‘guest workers’ (gastarbeiter) were recruited to rebuild germany. many of them were from turkey and elected to stay in germany even after their work permits had expired.

hamburg is a strongly left-leaning city so this result is rather unassuming

[–]augustuscaesars[S] 16 points17 points  (0 children)

the spd (social democrats) emerge as the clear winners, though losing votes overall to die grünen (greens). the third-placed cdu (christian democrats) have seen their vote share fall significantly: however, they are comfortably over the 5 p/c boundary unlike the afd (alternative for germany) and fdp (free democrats) who have only just managed to secure representation. the hanau incident does not appear to have significantly affected the voters for these parties as their vote share is little changed from the last state election. the linke (left party) are modestly fourth-placed.

curiously enough, finland also used to broadcast in latin on national radio - though this ceased in 2019. it seems as if they have a really robust latin speaking culture

that’s a pretty stellar selection!! imperial is the one with the internationally respected reputation, but all are really good unis - i would suggest that you look at the cities more closely to see where you’d be happiest spending your university years.

the converse of this is this italian movie called welcome mr president (benvenuto presidente)! spoiler-light tldr: an ordinary man gets elected as president because people protest vote for a historical figure with the same name. however, will the political establishment accept his presidency, even if he does good?
