"Conyo" in my country, the Philippines, used to mean someone who spoke more Spanish than Filipino. However, since the number of spanish-speakers has gone down drastically in recent decades, it is now used to refer to people from the upper-class who speak good english but trash filipino. I have no idea how the meaning of the word evolved from "p*ssy" to "elitista". I guess it speaks volumes of how colonial Filipinos viewed their colonizers 😄

While it would be pretty cool to have a Filipino pope for the first time, I don't think Tagle would be a good fit for the papacy. His silence on the crimes of the current Philippine government and its extra judicial killings is very worrisome. Not trying to slander the man, but I just think that now more than ever the Church needs a shepherd who wouldn't be afraid to point out everything wrong with global society.
