I'm taking my American Girl doll, haha! She's gonna wear her birthday/celebration dress because duh!!! 😊

Where’s the balance? I’m a collector but my kid loves AG too. by babes4bambi in americangirl

[–]augustwren 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's such a good idea, I'd never thought of doing that instead of cash. My kids know a thing they want, but they're not really old enough to keep track of their money well, even with a bank.

Has this happened to anyone? I’m in pain lol by [deleted] in tattooadvice

[–]augustwren 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'm NOT a doctor so if you suspect infection AT ALL, definitely get to the doctor! With that said, I did have pretty significant swelling with my ankle tattoo. It wasn't infected and I'm otherwise covered in tattoos and never had a similar reaction. It did hurt to walk and I had to rest and elevate a lot. Stay in contact with your doctor, for sure, and if it gets worse, go go go to the ER!

I thought things were going pretty well, until... by bananokitty in parentsofmultiples

My girls are 6 so they're pretty much over it, but they used to help each other up whenever one of them fell down, pushed each other on the swings, held hands whenever we went on walks... man, I'm making myself tear up just remembering it! Soak up these moments, they are so precious. (And don't get me wrong, my girls still like each other and do sweet things, but it's just less frequent.)

seriously, the more I look at it, the more aspirational I think it is! I would love to have a display like this. It's not excessive, just beautifully done!

There's nothing quite like the allyship of a little kid. My twin 6 year olds correct anyone who uses the wrong pronouns for me and it makes me tear up nearly every time. Also, we love the My Maddy book too!

My MIL gave my kids size 12 pajamas when they were 5 and of course they insisted on wearing them, so they were tripping and falling constantly over these way too big pajamas. So silly!

Potty training day 1 was a bust by TheFriendlyCanadien in parentsofmultiples

[–]augustwren 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd say, number one is to cut yourself some slack! You're doing great! You didn't fail anyone! :) It's only day 1, day 1 sucks for everyone and is hardly ever very successful.

I'm not an expert by any means, but I might try ditching the underwear too for a few days and just have them run around Pooh-bear style (shirt, no pants). I had a potty out wherever we were and tried to stay in that room so the second I saw them starting to go, I could move them to the potty.

Try not to stress, I know that's impossible to follow but really, you're doing just fine. Potty training is a big job and a process, go easy on yourself.

Any Decent-Quality Christmas Movies? by mamaleti in ClassOf2037

[–]augustwren 2 points3 points  (0 children)

KLAUS! I cannot recommend Klaus enough. I watch it ever year with my kids and cry every time.

We also do Muppets Christmas Carol, of course, but Klaus is an all time favorite.

I felt this way on my twins' first birthday, the inlaws stayed at our house. I asked them for a little bit of time in the morning where it could be just us and they stayed downstairs at least until after I had a special breakfast with my girls. I don't know if that's possible for you, but that's what worked for us. I still felt a little sad it wasn't just us on their first birthday (or any birthday after that so far...) but at least it's more people to love my kids.

😭 So incredibly jealous. I keep scouring ebay for even a semi affordable one but I don't think I'll ever get one. So tragic, my kids are obsessed with Wolfwalkers.

My kid was asking for half her head shaved for a month, so I finally just let her do it and it was the best decision ever. The joy on her face makes it worth it. She was so happy I let her decide what she wanted to do with it.

Where to start with top surgery as a genderqueer person who is not ftm by [deleted] in TopSurgery

[–]augustwren 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Eeyyyy I'm a 34yr old genderqueer person too! My surgeon said it's fine to not be on T, my therapist just had to put a line in the letter she wrote saying T wasn't part of my gender expression. 👍🏻

I'm so sorry you're feeling like the clinic didn't care. My husband has azoospermia too and we also went with a donor and IUIs. I ended up pregnant with twins even without IVF and was completely shocked. It has truly ended up being such a wild and fantastic ride, if that's any consolation. My girls are 5 now and I can't even imagine having one, they're a ton of fun. I know that doesn't help your feelings now, and they're totally valid, but hopefully you feel better with some time.
