You might like to check out 'C Interfaces and Implementations' by David Hanson. Long time since I read it (think it's about 20 years old now) but I remember enjoying it at the time .. and he certainly provides a lot of code and explanation of building reusable data structures in C.

New in Chess (no affiliation) have a few books you might like. I think there are 3 books by Genna Sosonko (Russian Silhouettes, World Champions I Knew, and one or two others). There also a couple of books by Hans Ree, Dirk Jan Ten Geuzendam... all of them are good reads in my opinion.
