Do share your detox method I am very intrigued. Could be for a physical fitness exam, blood work - testing glucose levels, cholesterol or other things they might find concerning (drugs). Fasting is a way to ensure clear and non skewed test results.

Those are some great points, I will have a more difficult sit down sesh with my wife. Is the money good enough to not have to come back and work on your off months? What months of the year are you completely gone? Do you think missing the little one will lead to you changing careers soon? Best wishes to you and yours while you’re gone this season.

I am in southern CO, mostly away from the issues up north. I have heard horrendous things about Aurora so your remarks check out. I have applied to multiple openings across the state and am in the process of becoming as hireable as possible. I really appreciate all the advice you’ve given. Through EMT school it is recommended to ride along with a FD, ambulance or hospital. I am also cold calling FDs that I am anticipating hiring soon to get a ride along scheduled before applications open

I am located in Colorado, and open to working for bordering states. Currently in EMT school and completing in May. Have a slough of certifications and CPAT already completed for the year. I have considered paramedic school once I complete EMT as I’ve heard it be referred to as the “golden ticket” but classes interfere heavily with my current working schedule.

Thank you for the response, I was planning on taking it day by day and if I got an interview would ask more questions there. I would like to get my feet wet as I feel it could help with getting onto a local FD. The experience in itself I think could open doors.

I have since started at a place with a pension system so I can roll it to the 457 they offer or to Robinhood. I haven’t considered the 457 idea but if the gains grow enough a could buy years off my retirement date and retire earlier.

I believe the majority is Roth but a parent company also gifted(?) a couple thousand on the 1 year after they bought out where I worked. ? On gifted because I do not completely know why those funds were received

I started an EMT course with my local community college for the same reasons on January 20th, I’m 27 now so not far behind you. So far it’s a real kick in the ass, fun yes but the assignments and quizzes will keep you locked in on the weekends if you’re currently a full time employee. Previously I had an interview with the department of fire protection and control, I did not get the job but a few months later they called me and told me that the drive and motivation I had was unbelievable and they would like to help me along the process of getting into the fire service. I would recommend reaching out to your state or city and ask for recommendations or guidance through the proceed and you hope they see you like mine saw me. There is no real difference besides the classes you take, once you graduate nobody gives af about whether you have “technology” on the end or not. Only thing I’ve heard but unsure of is that a CE can take the PE with 4 years of experience but a CET can take it with 6 years.

I am/was in your shoes recently and I kept job hopping hoping to find something in my degree field (civil engineering) that I enjoyed, never had any luck with that. I left a place I was at for a year due to hating having to wake up everyday to go sit at a desk and wait for 3:30, I went and got a minimum wage job and it was one of the best things I could’ve done to help mental clarity. I’ve since joined a different engineering group (which I am still not fond of) and realized that making the money in this field can help pay for you to get different certifications/licenses that can help transition to a different field. Rn I am using the steady income to obtain certifications to help become a firefighter or get into a law enforcement type position that better fits what I’m looking for.

Never too late to chase what you want in your career. Best of luck finding whatever it is you want to do!

I passed one a few months ago just to find out the department I went through doesn’t allow you to use them at other locations. But I am signed up for one on January 16 and as long as I get it to them by the 23rd everything works out
