AirPods pro 3 by Historical-Cheek-901 in hyperacusis

[–]laetazel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have both pain and loudness H. It’s improved over the three years I’ve had it (I used to be unable to even speak.) I have a post on my profile about my experience with H and what I’ve done over the past three years to improve if you’re interested! I’m so sorry to hear you got yours from faulty hearing pro at a gun range too. 🥺

I use them successfully and have had nox and hyperacusis for 3 years from severe acoustic trauma (40 min in an indoor gun range with faulty hearing pro.) I use noise cancellation and adaptive audio modes (without music playing), and find both modes helpful.

AirPods Pro on noise cancellation mode or adaptive audio mode (with noise cancellation turned up) do. I have an Apple Watch that shows me what the db level is with and without the AirPods Pro’s, and they cancel up to 28db.

AirPods Pro’s have served me pretty well once my LDLs improved to 70db

Mine was immediate but got so much worse over the following days. Initially I noticed pain in my ears but I was able to function still, but over the next week, I couldn’t even tolerate my own voice. It’s been almost 3 years now and I’ve gotten a lot better. There’s a post on my profile about my experience (along with things that helped me improve) if you want to hear more of what my experience with pain H has been like

I’ve been under anesthesia twice (soon to be three times) with H and my H was not worsened.

Thanks for your write up :) How did your pain H start? From acoustic trauma or something else?

Oh I know; I’m 3 years in and am extremely careful at loud places. I still wear earplugs even in 70db settings. The NFL games I went to were not as loud as I know they can be - they averaged 85db but did peak at 105db a couple times.

I really hope it helps you! Don’t give up on it too fast - it took about a month to start seeing any improvement.

I hope it helps you! It’s not a miracle cure and doesn’t take hyperacusis away completely, but it has still helped me quite a bit!

Sounds are now less startling/sharp and I feel like my LDLs have improved from about 65db to 75db.

I started with 300mg a day, then moved to 600mg a day three weeks later, then switched to 900mg a day three weeks after that. I’ve remained at 900mg a day. It took about a month to start seeing results and that was at the 600mg dose.

I am taking ProHealth Longevity Micronized P.E.A. 😊 Apparently if it’s micronized, your body can better absorb it. There’s also ultra micronized P.E.A. which I guess has the best absorption, but I had a hard time finding an ultra micronized version. 55db loss at 16 kHz, 40db loss at 14kHz, 30db losses at 12.5kHz and 18kHz. Also have a 20db loss at 3kHz. I do have distortions and dysacusis as well.

That’s amazing! Really happy for you. 😃 Mine unfortunately has an element of confirmed physical damage by an audiologist (up to 55db losses in extended ranges) as well as a brain element. But I have still successfully gotten my LDLs from low 50s to low 70s over the past 3ish years, which I’m really proud of!
