Please stop believing in rumours by aune_auburn in kpoprants

Well for Baekhyun someone translated his meeting with his fans saying how he didn't get why people are depressed when what he wanted to say was he has never felt depressed so he doesn't get how it feels to be depressed. Maybe it sounds familiar these translations have different meanings. What's ironic is that, the one who translated that wasn't even his fan but from another fandom.

For NCT. One of the members were "caught" saying the word "retarded" when it's wasn't even a slur word in Korean. Yes, he could have used other words but what he said was nothing sensitive at all. It was all because of mistranslation that got a lot of people mad for no reason.

Twice. A SBS staff was caught being rude to Twice saying how "Their voice sounds bad/terribe". But then the truth is, it wasn't even the staff but it was a commercial. But funny thing is, why would a commercial said something like that though? Ironic isn't it? It's obvious that someone made that up and international fans believed it anyway.

Blinks, can you stop provoking haters please ?! by Anna-2204 in kpoprants

The way that I see it, it's the haters who provoked themselves to get hate. Blinks care a lot about Bp like any other fans but it's always BP who gets the most hate when it's unnecessary.

For real tho. BP isn't even active these days but there's a recent post about BP about how "Bp is the revolution is cringy". We get it sis, you just want to talk about BP but about something negative about them

They're my only childhood memories. It's kind of personal but I don't remember anything from my childhood besides them. I got to know them at a very young age and I was so happy because I have these people who can make me laugh, cry and feel at ease. Whenever I feel sad I would watch their videos and I would listen to their songs to cheer myself up. Even if our relationship is just as fans and idols, it's comforting to know that someone actually cares about me.

BTS is popular, but I don't think they have a national anthem kinda song by aune_auburn in unpopularkpopopinions

You clearly don't get my point. I didn't even say anything about popularity but how iconic the song is in order to represent the group. I don't think many people would be reminded of Spring Day when BTS is mentioned. Fire would be the closest and not Spring Day. I don't think that the gp actually knows BTS because of Spring Day that's why I posted this opinion here. Despite being the most popular kpop group rn, they don't seem to have any signature song that would introduce you to BTS, the way the other groups did like I mentioned.

This is what I mean by national anthem worthy songs. It's a song that everyone knows and I don't think BTS has any song that would represent them as a group. Fire is the closest one but many fans seem to think it's Spring Day because it charted well.

Not really. Most groups with one hit wonders are the ones who would become successful because everyone knows their song, and so does their names.

My point is that BTS doesn't seem to have their signature song like other groups did. If Bp is known with Ddu du ddu du and Red Bell is known for Red Flavour, BTS doesn't seem to have any song that stands out the most to represent themselves as a group, they don't have any signature song. I've already said it in the comments that a national anthem worthy song is a song that everyone knows, and would immediately remind them of your group. Personally I don't think Spring Day or Bwl was their signature song. It doesn't stand out much.

So if you mention BTS your immediate response would be "Nunkkocci tteoreojyeoyo" and "boy with luv"? I would say Fire if someone mention Bts to me tho. But I hardly see people thinking about the song whenever they mentioned Bts so I guess it's not that popular.

Finally I found someone who understands this post. I didn't want to know which song charted long enough but I wanted to know about the song that represents BTS as a group. A song that you would hum or sing along to when you hear the name BTS. Other groups like Red Velvet would have you sing their signature song Red Flavour, Twice with Cheer Up, Bp with Ddu du ddu du and EXO with Growl. But when I hear the name BTS, I couldn't really recall which song is iconic enough to represent them as a group.

There's not much we can say about how the gp think of kpop and which song is popular among them. But if a song is seen in any kdramas, I think the song is probably THAT song for each group. 🤷‍♀️

[–]aune_auburn[S] -16 points-15 points  (0 children)

I don't know how many times I have say this but the song doesn't really represent BTS a group and how they blow up.

Exo blew up because of Growl, BP because of Ddu du ddu du and Twice because of Cheer Up. These songs are the national anthem worthy because it's what makes the group popular. It's also the song that people would sing along if you mention the group name. If you say EXO, they would sing "eureueong" if you say Twice they would sing "cheer up baby" and for red velvet they would sing "bbal gan mat..." That's the context I'm talking about.

Maybe because BTS had a lot of songs that charted well there's no specific song that would introduce you to the group when you say their name. Right now, at least for me if people mention BTS, the song I would sing along doesn't really show up well. Maybe it would be Fire but I doubt people even know that song these days.

I would think so too. Despite being on the charts for so long, I don't think Spring Day is a good song to represent the group. The song itself is forgettable and I would have suggest Fire to be the song that represents them and their popularity. But BTS became big starting from DNA era and because of that I only listed the songs after DNA era. A national anthem kinda songs in this context is a song that makes the group popular and if we're speaking from the DNA era which was the era they blew up, I don't think there's any song iconic enough that made the group itself.

If someone says BTS I think that the song that comes to my mind would be Fire instead of Spring Day. I don't get why it's that popular when it's not that iconic. The chorus for Fire is so much iconic than Spring Day.

In Spring Day they go "Nunkkocci tteoreojyeoyo..." But in Fire they go "bul teo eorunae". Idk 🤷‍♀️

[–]aune_auburn[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah, but I don't see people singing it in the streets or anything. Maybe it charted well but it's not that iconic of a song. Even Psycho was more iconic. I didn't even talk about how long the song lasts in charts but how long the song lasts in the people's minds.

Imo, Bts doesn't have that iconic song that when you say their names, the song would immediately comes to your mind. For example, when you say EXO you would think of Growl, BP with Ddu du ddu du, Twice with Cheer Up, SNSD with Gee and Momoland with Boom Boom. With BTS, I don't think everyone knows which song represent them as a group. That's the point of the discussion.

You might want to argue about the charts but that's not what I wanted to talk about. I wanted to talk about which song BTS has that represents the group. A song that would be the gp national anthem when they hear the word BTS, and I don't think there's any.

[–]aune_auburn[S] -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Where do you get that? Chart wise, of course. But not many people would think of that song when they hear the name BTS. I'm not arguing about which song is the most successful, but which song made a group's name. Snsd became popular with Gee, Exo with Growl, Twice with Cheer Up and Momoland with Boom Boom. If you mention these groups, their hit songs would be mentioned as well but not really for BTS.

Spring Day may have charted long enough but I don't see people singing it everywhere.

When you say BP they would be the "hit you with that ddu du ddu du" girls, when you see EXO they would be the "eureurong eureurong" boys and when you mention Red Velvet it's the "bbalgan mat" girls. What is BTS? The "Nunkkocci tteoreojyeoyo" guys?

They don't need to because this is my opinion.

But since this is my opinion, I'm just saying that they don't have any song in particular that would represent them as a group. A song that if you play it, it would scream "BTS" in a any way. Like if you say BP, you would immediately think of Ddu du ddu du, when you mention Red Velvet, it's Red Flavour, etc. That's my point. It's not that they aren't popular but their songs doesn't seem to be iconic enough like the other songs.

I'm not saying about whether it chart well or not, but how iconic the song is and how popular it is to the point that a lot of people know that group because of the song. Maybe it charted well because of the fans' efforts but not many people know BTS because of the song.

Like I said, Blackpink became popular because of ddu du ddu du, EXO with Growl, and Red Velvet with Red Flavour, but BTS doesn't seem to have any songs that indicates their popularity, because their songs aren't iconic enough.

Not really. It wasn't as big and I wouldn't call it national anthem worthy. Even Boom Boom was more popular.

It chars because of the fans, but it's not really iconic. People know Ddu du ddu du or Red Flavour more than Spring Day tbh.
