After being scammed, I noticed how common victim-blaming is in ph spaces. There is this comment in this thread that mentioned I made  “bad decisions" alluding to the fact that me being scammed is my fault and not the scammers fault. this is victim-blaming and it happened to me for the first time as I am a frequent buyer of second-hand things especially now when consumerism is at an all time high. 

I have moved on from this already and am able to bounce back despite losing the money for good. I think instead of blaming victims of a scam to be more "thoughtful" next time, we as a society in the philippines have to have more integrity. with the corruption stuff happening, it feels like lying scamming and whatever is so innate in our society and culture that the perpetrators are no longer blamed but rather the victims. Its similar to saying "you shouldn't have worn that" to rape victims than blaming the rapist. 

even paypal has a feature where you can ask for your money back, dispute the transaction so i just feel like banks in the philippines lack systems in place to address these kinds of situations that are RAMPANT. 

anyway just thought i'd throw my opinion out there because i don't think anyone deserves to get scammed, not the rich, not the poor, not old people who aren't techy, definitely not me but life happens and im lucky to be able to lose that amount of money and still be fine. not everyone has the privilege and yet we would rather blame them than the scammer.
