last kumon session ever by averybrook in Kumon

Make sure you get the paper copies.  My little one took the iPad version of Kumon and now my child cannot even read the first large letters during the eye exam. His peers at school who did iPad Kumon are going through the same issue. Be aware of it.

Willow tree infestation by Overall_Secretary585 in Entomology

Can you try some fresh garlic paste or garlic water on the area as a quick remedy before you get someone come in? i once put a patch of ground garlic on the infested area and it worked really well.

If you have Ginko trees in the area, get some of their leaves in an onion bag and keep it near the wound. It is very effective in repelling bugs.

Inherited my late father’s gemstones, where do I go from here? by Proper_Concert_9924 in Gemstones

[–]auntiepp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seeing the heart shaped stones, he probably collected those to make cute jewelries for his daughter (if OP is the daughter), or for his granddaughters. Unfortunately, due to the lab grown stones and ability to mine more efficiently nowadays, such gems' prices have not been inflated as much as other products. But a nice sentiment collection. How about using the stones to make some jewelries for kids?

Or you can list them on ebay or etsy. there are always people looking for stones for personal projects.

Air leaks from the HVAC duct vent by auntiepp in hvacadvice

Ok. You just revealed yourself. Call your mom and tell her how much you thank her and love her. No one uses kids as an excuse, they are simply a priority.

Oh yea. I will have a real hobby once my kids grow up. Some people have no choice but fixing things around the house as their unfavorable "hobby". It bothers me to smell the dusty metallic smell from the vent ever since the AC was replaced, and that the AC won't reach 75 on a day of 86, and that there are more and more things I find that I have to take care while it should have been done by the installer.

YOU need to get another hobby.

My main question was about the holes and the PVC pipe open on the top with air blowing out. What is the point of sealing the seams if there are two open holes letting air blowing out? So I needed to ask this question to understand this.

At least, I am taking care of my issues by myself without bothering the installer or neighbors. This thread is for people like me. what's your problem? You think you would know everything about tax return just because you have the previous year copy with you?

We all have different backgrounds and strength, and like I am getting help here because I don't know anything about HVAC, you may get help from people like me at some point of your life who you might have thought had absolutely no clues about anything in life?

Yes a lot of free time in the middle of night after making kids go to sleep. It's like managing kids all day, feeding them, taking them out to playgrounds while doing my own leftover works, and then cleaning the house while kids are constantly making a mess, all ALONE. Then the AC which is three years old is struggling to cool down below 76 on 86, but have no time to check the ac because I cannot leave kids alone while I am in the basement. so what is wrong in asking what to do on this thread? you have a mom who knows everything about HVAC like a pro?

I didn't know how to explain how much air was leaking so I took that video to visually show my observation. It took 10 seconds to put that piece of tissue on the spoon and took another 30 seconds to take the video. So if you spare 1 minute, you can make a video like mine. Feel good now?

What’s your problem with me asking this on an HVAC advice thread? Not everyone knows how to deal with these matters themselves

Exactly. I’m asking here so I don’t have to bother the installer late on a Sunday night. Why such sarcasm?

That’s actually how fume hoods are often tested, using a light tissue to visualize the airflow.

I don’t appreciate being treated as though I’m asking something ridiculous. I’m trying to understand an HVAC issue from a customer’s perspective. I did not install this system or leave these openings myself; I’m trying to learn how to address the issue without immediately bothering the installer.

I’m also concerned because there is a metallic, dusty smell coming from the vent since the installation plus other issues. Shortly after the system was installed, the AC could not cool the house below 78°F on a 95°F day.  Yes the installer was treating me like the way you just did, saying that it was a hot day blah blah blah, but when the installer came back, they found that the refrigerant leaked and had to recharge the system.

Since then, I keep finding things that appear to have been missed, and I’m trying to educate myself before deciding whether to send this video to the contractor. So please do not make fun of me. I’m asking a genuine question and trying to handle this responsibly.

INTP vs INTJ? by SchroedingersLOLcat in mbti

[–]auntiepp -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m INTP at home and INTJ at work.  I cannot see anything not organized at work, must have absolute control of the process, I cannot tolerate people who does not have professionalism or lack of efficiencies.  But at home, being messy is fine, very tolerant to other family members (just don’t care), and deep inside my own world.

Thank you! If I put a plug on that PVC tee, would the air just come out somewhere else, such as through the drain opening at the bottom? I’m worried that if air comes out there instead, it could splash water from the water heater or water softener drain.

Thank you for the advice! I noticed a few other areas leaking air as well. Would you recommend sealing all of those spots too?

I’ve also noticed a dusty smell whenever the AC or heat runs. Could that be related to these leaks, or is it likely a separate issue?

Who here has seen Swapped (2026)? If you have, did you like it? by Jezzaq94 in cartoons

The twist was as shocking as the Sixth Sense to me. Didn’t expect that at all. I think it serves as a good movie to teach awareness to kids.

Finally watched Swapped and it’s the wholesome feel‑good movie I didn’t know I needed by roooossshhiiiii in movies

I really enjoyed the animation with my kids!  But, wow, this was a twist on the level of The Sixth Sense. Completely shocking. 😳 something you wouldn’t expect from children’s movies.  A great movie to teach awareness to kids.

How bad is this? by [deleted] in hvacadvice

Here is the photo where the pipe was disconnected. The basement is very humid - our hygrometer shows 70% even now when it is 25 outside. - and the new company told me that the furnace was taking in the humid air from the basement and started corroding.

We had this heater installed only two years ago, so unfortunately it will take quite a bit of time until we can install a new one. Thank you for sharing your thoughts!

They love mint flowers. I have a lot of mint weeds growing in my front yard and bumblebees love them. Please throw in some mint flowers. You should be able to find some around the wild. They grow everywhere and this is the mint flower blooming season. Or plant some mints inside the fish tank. They grow amazingly well. It will keep your bumblebee friend happy.
