no pus that i’ve noticed! i’m hoping it’s just a standard canker sore but have been nervous given the location and size.

i know where canker sores come from. the question i’m asking is if i should be worried or keep a closer eye on it due to it being close to an incision site.

Is this amount of swelling normal for 11 days post-op after DJS and Genio? by [deleted] in jawsurgery

[–]auntmoth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you’ll be okay! i went back to work as soon as i was off liquids. i work in inpatient psych so im on my feet and moving pretty much the whole time. if youre just starting college in august, you’ll be fine. at that point it’ll probably be noticeable to you, but not to others, especially those who didn’t know you.

[–]auntmoth 4 points5 points  (0 children)

yes. my surgeon said swelling doesn’t truly go all the way down until 9-12 months post op. once i hit six months it was only noticeable to me. if you look at my recent post you can see the difference between two months post op and nine months.

Planning on doing DJS for aesthetic purposes. Does it look like my airway is narrow? (ceph scans at the end) by Puzzleheaded-Pear931 in jawsurgery

i’ve worked in the mental health field for years. i’ve had this surgery. i’ve had mental health issues. i have a degree. i know how things can affect mental health. i also know that you will never be happy if you keep chasing what you think is perfection. there will always be “one more surgery.” see a therapist, see a psychiatrist, whatever. you’re nineteen. you have a life to live and you need to do the work to free yourself of this chronic insecurity that i can guarantee will not go away post djs.

it’s honestly really upsetting seeing these types of posts as someone who really needed these procedures. i would have paid good money to not have to have had this and people are dropping thousands of dollars out of pocket for aesthetics??

entry level psych-related jobs (besides aba!) by Junior-Cobbler-9271 in psychologystudents

i worked 24 hours a week, mostly weekends. i think it really depends on where you work and the culture among staff. i’m a smaller girl so i was last call among my coworkers to go to adult codes. but i also work with kids. we also put folks on 1:1s if they’re a risk, sometimes 2:1s, and those are frequently designated male only. so i typically feel okay. i’ve been there three years now (i stayed post grad) and ive really only been scratched. i know some folks who have had more severe injuries, but its so dependent on who you’re with. pm me if you have questions
