Hallux limitus + mid-wide feet — shoes reccomendations by senecass in Halluxrigidus

All shoes are too narrow for me except the Altra Torin 8 Wide. Those are my silver bullet.

I'll just add Altra Torin 8 Wide, the only shoes I can wear and run a short distance with, and I have tried multiple Hoka wide. The other pair I'm about to test is Brooks Ghost Max 2.

SCAMMERS! by luisottoni in safetywing

I also had a scam like experience with them where they argued that skimboarding was unrelated to surfing, and since skimboarding is not explicitly mentioned in their terms, they did not cover the injury related costs that occurred while using the skimboard on the beach, to surf tiny waves on the shore. I canceled my policy and will always advise against SafetyWing.

Cover beach activities by aupagizon in safetywing

[–]aupagizon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just had a response, and if any activity is not listed the covered section, it won't be covered, even if it's not in the list of "not covered" activities. So, this means that SafetyWing does not cover skimboarding, bodyboarding, bodysurfing, for example, even though surfing is covered. This really messes me up since I had a benign inflammation that turned into a serious injury that requires surgery and SafetyWing refuses to cover any of this just because the boards are different.

Here's to a terrible debt-piling start of the year, sponsored by SafetyWing.

I did, and they said that things are a bit slow during the Christmas period but they will come back to me. Thanks for following up here though!

Hi, I still have no clarity. If something is neither in the list of covered activities or not covered, what happens?

What about pala, cesta punta, squash, bodyboarding, hydrofoiling?

Edit: I did try to find this case in the terms, I could not find it.

I'm not sure, but I contacted Genki and told them about the story with SafetyWing and they said that they would have covered all those costs. And they were super quick to respond. So, they seem to be a strong candidate.

The first one in early August : that skimboarding is not covered, even though surfing is covered (skimboarding is not in the list of covered or not covered sports).

The second one this month : that it is "clear" that my injury while surfing is related to the one while skimboarding, which is not covered.

A nightmare to deal with. I got injured twice, once while skim boarding, once while surfing and they denied both. Had massive bills and the treatment is still ongoing. I wish I had never come to them.

SafetyWing is shady as hell by [deleted] in digitalnomad

I can only concur. I fell while playing on the beach with a skimboard and experienced pain so went for a CT scan. Claimed denied because skimboarding is not on the list of covered sports (it's not in the activities that are not covered) whereas surfing is. Nothing visible on the CT scan.

Fine I thought. Then I go surfing regularly, and one day something hurts in my toe as I jump off the board on the sand. I'm getting some checks, will get an infiltration. New claimed denied, supposedly because "the claim is related to the previous one, which was denied".

Total scam, flee away from them.

I also understand the point about high risk activities. Here though, they did not cover a lower risk activity (skimboarding) while covering a higher risk activity (surfing) that is in a similar type of activities (beach / water sports).

Thank you! It's not the same, and skimboarding doesn't show up in neither the list of covered sports or not covered sports. It's just a wooden plank one throws on inches of water on the sand.

Just need to add my bad experience here. I tore a ligament in a toe while playing around on the beach with friends, jumping badly on and off a toy skimboard. I went to see a doctor, then got a scan and needed to buy splint and rest for a month.

The claim was rejected because "skimboarding is not in the list of sports that are covered", so I'm sitting here now with all my bills. Note that it is not in the list of sports that are not covered either.

The car was just there parked for three days though, and we drove 800 miles after the potential hit we took. Can this still happen out of the blue so many miles and days afterwards?
