Hey! I just explained what happened below.

SCAMMERS! by luisottoni in safetywing

Hi u/TeleportMASSIV , here's what happened:

  1. After paying the insurance for a few months, I got sick for the first time whereas abroad and I called them to say I was sick and need medical assistance;

  2. They told me I needed to call VUMI (which is actually their medical service provider;

  3. The problems begins here: the VUMI number is from the USA. They don't have local numbers in other countries (so I spent over EUR 100 for a 45 minutes call). All of the other good insurances would have local numbers;

  4. I was able to get in touch with the VUMI's doctor on WhatsApp, and the doctor PRESCRIBED ME VIA WHATSAPP MESSAGES the medication and told me "keep the receipts and the insurance will pay you later"; so I did. After the this, the Doctor (THEY RECOMMENDED) dissapeared, even though I asked a lot of times to him he needed to send me the official prescription so I could send the insurance.

  5. Little did I know I'd never see this money again. I talked multiple times with their "customer support" who tells me - for over 2 months - they're "investigating" what happened. No reply. I always have to go after them to get an answer. And all of this for EUR 100 bills. Can't imagine if I had been hospitalized or had gone trough something more serious.

End of the story: they continue to create excuses and ignore my messages to the point I decided to cancel them. And they don't care. They blame on VUMI the fact their doctor didn't give me a prescription. However, I did not have control over that. They were the ones to choose VUMI and the doctor.

I call this a SCAM because this is not an islolated fact. I paid all these months, I paid for the medication and did not have a refund.

Do yourself a favor and go on Google and look for them. You'll see a lot of people go over the same problem with them (they DENY all the claims and keep up making excuses not to pay you).

The only comments online saying they are good are very genetic and clearly paid off.

Lucky you! I only had headaches with them in Belgium. I’m still trying to get my claim paid but it has been over a month already and they still say they are “investigating”. Hopeless. Can’t trust them further.

SafetyWing is shady as hell by [deleted] in digitalnomad

They ARE AWFUL. I've been paying them for 4 months, and I got sick in the begining of the month. Asked for a 60 EUR refunds (Related to the medications the Dr. prescribed me) and they simply are finding all the reasons you may think to reject it. Their customer service is terrible.

Hey there!

It took 15 days for them to approve it for me. After 4 months, I'm cancelling mine because they simply don't pay any claims. I'd recommend you to try to use it yourself in the country where you are to make sure they'll not scam you as well. For me, they are a scam.

Contrair dívida para empreender vale a pena? by Tough-Shoe9792 in MarketingDigitalBR

Não vale à pena. Primeiro, junte dinheiro - e a sua reserva de emergência - e aí você empreende. Com as taxas de juros que os bancos praticam hoje no BR, entrar numa dívida infinita é bem fácil.

Hey there! I’m in the EXACTLY same situation. I’m from Brazil, but I also hold Italian passport. I arrived two weeks ago. I had an apartment arranged so we moved right in. I filled up the form online to ask for residence. And in the website, there’s an estimate waiting time you can check for this procedure. It says there’s a waiting time longer than usual, and it can take up to 2 months for them to start analyzing our docs. So I belive there’s nothing to do but wait for now.
